New wheels & front bumper
Discussion
Thanks chaps,
Hope to meet some of you on the 24th March.
LuS1fer, I used Moving Parts to bring the bumper in, referenced from one of your previous posts, thanks.
Been reading about your upgrades on Danny's site Kev, bet it feels strong now! I am leaning towards the JDM stage 2 package.....

One word. Wow!
Quite! I know Bullitt wheels are a little obvious on a Mustang, but when they look that good, why the Hell not!
That's just perfect and I love the Shelby front end. If you don't mind me asking, how much was that (PM me if you'd rather not say one the forum).
Now I really can't decide......grey or black? Grey probably hides any dirt/scratches, but black is just soooooooooooo mean.
Stig, Kevin shipped them to NY & Moving Parts then forwarded them to the UK. Shipping & duty came to around £540.
Zektor, the headlamps are a different shape to fit the grille opening. You also have to fit new wheel arch liners, bumper core & brackets, even the plastic radiator cover is replaced.

Eibach do two types of lowering spring kit. The Eibach Pro Kit, which MrKipling has, and the Eibach Sportline Kit which my car has. I think (but don't quote me on this) the difference is...
The Pro Kit is 15% uprated, with a 1 inch or 1.2 inch drop for the front, and a 1.5 or 1.6 drop for the rear.
The Sportline Kit is 35% uprated, with a 1.6 inch drop at the front and a 2 inch drop for the rear.
I'm not sure of the Pro Kit, but my Sportline Kit came with 4x replacement 'bump stops' as well. They are shorter, giving the suspension more travel before bottoming out. Incidentally, even with my 20" wheels coming out to the arch line, they've never touched the arches, and there's some pretty big holes in the road where I live!
To be honest, it's all a matter of taste. The Sportline Kit is fairly hard, hit a big bump and you do know about it. But the benefit is obviously a lower 'look' and flatter, sharper cornering. I've turned the car in very hard, and it doesn't seem to roll much at all, and it's still using the standard shocks and roll bars!
I think if you want a lowered look with a ride that isn't too far from stock, the Pro Kit is a good option. Probably why it's the most popular stateside.
On the wheels subject. My car doesn't have any spacers. The wheels I went for came in too offset sizes, +24 and +12. I talked to ARE in the states about the wheels before ordering. Eventually settled on the +24 offset on their advice. They told me that the +24 go right out to the wheel arch line, but the +12 exceed the wheel arch line and should only be used in extreme applications. With slightly flared arches maybe?
To my eyes, the front tyres sidewall's are dead in line with the wheel arch above. For the rear, I think they actually protrude very slightly past the arch. Maybe by about 1 to 1.5 of a millimetres. Any further and I think it would look a little silly. It's just right in my opinion.
But, I have to admit, I've always liked the Bullitt style wheels, and MrKiplings car is a fine example!
Cheers

Zektor, I actually prefer the way your car sits on the Sportlines, the trouble is the GT500 front splitter is much lower to the ground than the stock front end. Clearance is tight enough with the Pro kit, I keep going home the long way to avoid the inevitable speed humps!
p.s. Your new brakes are very, very nice indeed.
Swerni, There is a bit of a gathering at Santa Pod on the 24th March, organised by the Lightning guys, I believe a few late Mustangs are attending.

Re the front splitter... that is a very good point. I have to go very slow over speed bumps as it is. Just as well you went with the Pro-Kit setup then!
Is the Santa Pod meet on the 24th a big event? Or is it just a casual day where a few people are just getting together?
I could make the Santa Pod meet if a few people are going. Not too far from where I live.

It's an RWYB incorporating the Fast Show, Saturday should be the quieter of the two days.

Hey guys,
24th March is a Run what ya Brung open day. Actually its the weekend. Some of us on Rebel-V8 dot com started to do a bit of forum drag racing and it ended up with a show down being called..LOL
Now we have a few Lightnings and a couple of Mustangs going. the invite is open to everyone really as its not our event but the Saturday should !!!! be the quieter of the two days with not many ricers etc....
I know of maybe two other Saleens, one Stang with NO2, a couple of quick Lightnings and a Harley Supercrew. maybe even a 600hp 4WD Chevy SS truck if we can persuade the owner to thrash it.
There are also a few other American car owners going.
It is definately not a professional enthusiasts session. I have never drag raced in my life but its going to be an experience.
There is a purpose billed event for SVT boys at the end of June which includes a BBQ/ Show and Shine etc along with some drag racing too but will get details posted if anyone is interested.

jeff,
Yep Adam has posted everywhere..LOL
The car pulls very strong now. As it has the maxi grip rear end, I expected it to plant a bit better. Certainly lights the rears in first three gears. Have a few issues with CAI but am sure I can get it sorted to look 100% better. Might try the Saleen Extreme inlet tube as it is bigger diameter than the stock supercharged one and this would site the filter nearer the wing opening. Either that or I have someone who can make a custom heat shield for it.
Other than this its a great mod.
If you go for the Saleen charger with the JDM stage 2, and keep the stock bonnet, then the lower motor mounts will be needed. I dont need mine due to the higher profile Saleen hood. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Possibly going to fit the Extreme lower control arms and sway bar to help the launch a bit better.
If you get to the Pod on 24th I will see you there.

One other question mr.k - did the front end come pre-painted?
