Guys and gals. Do any of you have the dimensions of an '05 Mustang? We're currently househunting and we've just seen a perfect house today and will be putting an offer on it........pending the dimensions of the garage. I won't be shopping for my Mustang until next year (unless the itch becomes unbearable this summer!), but it just has to fit in the garage or I'll be heartbroken.

I'm sure it'll fit......in fact I'll make it fit, even if I have to resort to climbing in and out Dukes of Hazard stylee

The estate agent should be phoning me with the size of the garage tomorrow, so if any of you have a tape measure handy, I'd really appreciate it!

Cheers

Paul

Overall length 187.6" Overall width 73.9" but I've recently read a post saying 80" from mirror to mirror (which don't fold).

Thanks LuS1fer. No word yet from the estate agent, but I'll keep you posted.

80" wide inc mirrors that do not fold. That dimension is from a physical car in our showroom. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your help. A phonecall from the estate agent today confirms the garage is 2.5 metres wide, so it'll fit!!!! I'll just have to "cosy-up" to one side to allow maximum driver's door opening space.

So, the offer's in on the house. If we're in by early summer, something tells me I won't have the patience to wait until next Spring to buy the Mustang hehe

Check on the garage entrance width!

I had to buy a new garage door that did away with the support pillars in order to gain another 6 inches. I ended up getting an electric roller shutter in the end

You also need to check intrusions like pillars and soil pipe enclosures. My mate's garage was big enough for his Camaro in theory but the soil pipe was exactly where the door opened. Don't ever trust an estate agent.

My garage opening is approx 83" wide and I have couple of inches either side, when getting it through. The garage then opens up another 12" either side, so that the doors can open. Was a little scary the first time I tried to garage it, but a neighbour suggested placing a mirror at the far end of the garage so I could see the passenger side of the car as it came in....works a treat, unless it is pitch black. I then stick my head out of the drivers side to make sure I am not going to knock the drivers side wheel-arch.

As Lus1fer said, watch out for internal garage fittings and make sure that the measurements take into account any wooden framework, as with mine.

Hi all.

We're currently in an "offer war" with another potential buyer. We're now up to the asking price and won't be going any higher! However, we're in a good position as we've accepted an offer on our place, and the people buying ours have 1st time buyers buing theirs! Should find out later today if it's ours.

If we're successful in our bid, we'll take another trip over on Saturday morning. I'll feel more confident with my own tape measure! I do remember a couple of "intrusive" boxed in pipes, but they won't be where the car doors will open.

Unfortunaltey, due to the garages location, there's no way it could be extended, so it's finger's crossed all round!

Bu66er. We didn't get the house

Still, we have had our offer accepted on another very similar house and this one has a double length garage! Just need to measure the width of the garage door, although this one's 2.5 metres wide too (the garage, not the door!).

Buying and selling houses is a stressful business!!

I can't wait 'til we finally move, 'cos then I can get on with some serious Mustang shopping. The missus even bought me a book on the latest generation Mustang for Valentine's day, bless 'er!

She know's what I like yes

Christmas pressies also included a Mustang video, another book and a mug with a "speed freaks" style 'Stang on it thumbup

When we first got together around 12 years ago, she had no interest in cars whatsoever. She's now quite a little petrolhead.

Patronising? Moi?

When do you see yourself picking one up, is it longer term or shorter term as there's a guy on the Mustang Owner's club selling one.

This one?

That's a great colour combination and a great price at £17.5k. Just one thing wrong, and that's the auto gearbox. My current 300zx is an auto and it's the one thing I'd change. Mine will have to be a manual. Thanks for the heads-up though LuS1fer.

To be honest, my head says I shouldn't be in the market until next Spring but my heart says I'll be looking once we're in our new house (probably around the summer). I'll almost certainly start looking in the summer, but I'm determined not to be rushed. I intend to keep the Mustang for many, many moons as it'll be a cherished toy to be used at weekends and on sunny days. I have my Puma for the commute and Mrs TwinTurbo has a Zafira, so we've got the practical end covered!

Don't you worry, once I'm seriously looking, you lot will be the first to know. You'll never hear the end of it

Another step closer to the elusive Mustang. We've had an offer accepted on another house. It doesn't just have one 88" width garage door, oh no, it's got TWO!!!

All being well, we'll be in within 8-12 weeks. Let's see if I really can hold off until next year before I go shopping for my little pony hehe
