Evo's Longtermer up on Ebay...

Has anyone seen the Evo car on Ebay.
Not much of a Mustang expert, but have been eyeing this car up, as it's had a load of 'seemingly' worthwhile upgrades.
Anyone have any views on it, and what they think it'll fetch in the auction....(or, realistically, what it's worth...?)

Those upgrades are indeed, worthwhile, but not actually worth much when reselling.

Re. value - hard to say. The miles are higher than average at 27k. It's hard a pretty hard life too - but has been well maintained. Not the best colour combo (red & red) but that's personal taste I guess.

I'd say 20k tops.

So, a bargain would be in the region of £17k ish.....?
Coming from a long line of Porsches - fancied something different without laying out too much cash... Seems good performance / pound, and a little unusual into the bargain - not quite as common as the 996/7, and hopefully a better soundtrack.....

The Mustang has a penchant for rocking back and forth like a speedboat under acceleration and braking so lowering springs are fairly imperative as the rocking can tax the brakes by throwing weight onto them. I can't link ebay in work but a complete Roush suspension is around £1000 not fitted. Whilst I agree that you'll never recover the price of mods, they are dedfinitely worth having and will make the car easier to sell.

The 2005 Mustang has a pretty straight freeflow exhaust but the rear silencers need replacing to get a bit more of a rumble. In that regard, have some custom made or select from at least twenty different makes (although importing something that big is expensive and I have some no-drone Corsas if anyone is interested...).

The V8 will make more money than the harder to sell V6 but there are a lot flooding the market. I paid less than £20k for a 2005 with 2k on the clock and less than a year old. To import new, with the dollar being weak, a new one would cost about £25k or less. For this car, anything between £16k and £18k is potentially good. I know a mate enquired about the intake. I think EVO quoted £500 but my associate was quoted that for the kit and another £450 to tune it on a rolling road. Whether it actually produces 370bhp is anyone's guess. In the US, they rarely claim more than 25bhp and tehy have specialists but I don't know what's involved. Seems a huge hike from 300bhp on just a retune.

List the mods and I can tell you roughly what they're worth.

We bought it new via Litchfield Imports in March 2005 and immediately set about improving it. The first thing we added was a £465 induction kit together with an engine re-map that we later discovered had boosted power to 370bhp (+70bhp on standard) as well as giving the car a terrific V8 soundtrack. Next we added some silver strips and had some side louvres for the rear side glass proffesionaly fitted that the set the car off brilliantly.

It soon became obvious that the standard tyres and suspension set up were pretty hopeless so we ordered up some tasty Rouch upgrades to give our beloved Mustang a bit of helping hand, these included;
New dampers all round
New anti-roll bars front and rear
New Rouch 18" alloy wheels (we've just fitted with a new set of 285/40 ZR18 Dunlop Sport 9000s so tyres on it now are new)
Total cost of these improvements was £3926 before fitting.

The difference these bits made was amazing, great ride and transformed road holding, the only trouble was it highlighted the awful standard brakes set-up so the next thing we did was fit a complete brake kit that had just been launched by Movit. It wasn't cheap at £2400 before fitting but it was definitely worth it. After this little lot our Mustang felt well and truly sorted, the total cost of all these improvements came to £6,791 so the car stands us at £32,786.
