Courtesy of Hertz in San Francisco. The Shelby got a lot of attention and everyone from cops to kids to homies came over to ask about it. Makes a great noise, seemed slower than my Lightning and corners OK for a Mustang...

Mike - glad you enjoyed it and that makes 3 of us now with a positive experience. Cannot recommend this highly enough for anyone travelling over there - very different drive to a stock Mustang and enormous fun. Great pics - was only there 3 weeks ago and wishing I was back!

Was in Florida back in August and wanted to get one or even a stock Mustang but as our deal was through Dollar - not Hertz - had to settle for upgrading to a Charger ... not a Hemi though.

Still, a nice car and we did see a Hertz Shelby in the car park at Universal Studios ...

The Hertz ...

The Dodge ...

The GT-H's seem to be pretty much booked up in advance, at least in San Fran. Don't these cars look at lot better without front plates?

The modern Charger doesn't do anything for me at all, but the forthcoming Challenger is looking very interesting:

Glad you had a good time, you're right it does get a lot of attention from most people.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post the Motor Trends review in time.

Will have a go a posting it, its 5 pages, and some interesting stuff about the original

Have been trying to hire a stock V8 GT in Houston with no success let alone a GT-H!

Anyone know where I might be able to hire one???? The only 'stangs I've seen with the main rental companies are convertibles and they're all V6s!

I can only assume smaller hire companies will lend you a V8. For both our California trips we used Hertz (just tooooo convenient and cheap not too) and they were V6 only. I was told Hertz don't hire the V8s (this was a couple of years ago, and I'm talking previous generation car).

What pee-ed me off was the car on the front of the Hertz brochure....you got it. A V8 'Stang. rolleyes

Up in the hills just behind Malibu (rented the car out of LAX).....there are some great twisty roads up there which are easily accessible from the PCH.

Sorry if I am late to the game on this one, but I have just returned from Florida having hired the GT-H for eight days. What a cool car. OK the gearbox is not great and the plastics on the interior are naff, but what a nice engine and a greeat noise. And not only that it handles quite well and goes pretty quick. Roll on November when I go back, I will most certanly get another one.
