Guys,

Been doing research since I started looking for a Saleen S281 S/C. Now that Ive got one and its on the boat, I wondered if there are many other Saleens already here.
I understand Saleen have been in the Uk recently looking for a dealership to become authorised dealers selling the Mustangs and S7's.
I have also found out that there are at least 2 recalls for the 2005 Saleen Mustangs. Got the info from SaleenPower forum in the US.

1) Bonnet bolts work lose. Fix is different brackets. 05's had fibreglass bonnets apparently and 2006's have aluminium.
2) Stainless brake line recall. Brake lines need to be replaced. Saleen have said that dealer (in US only) will arrange to collect vehicle. no one is to drive their car to the dealership.

Hope this helps.

There are certainly a few 05-on Saleens in the UK, at least half a dozen I've come across. It doesn't surprise me that bonnet bolts come loose. In this month's EVO, it has an article on the Shelby which says they have had to cut vents into the bonnet to relieve pressure build-up under the bonnet. If you observe the bonnet on a stock 05, it does shudder and looks like it wants to blow open. Maybe a good excuse to modify the bonnet. I'm not sure where they get their stainless lines from but I ordered a set from Earls (Holley) way back in November and have been eternally fobbed off ever since. I've been told they put production on hold to get it right but still nothing 6 months later even though they promised to ship in May. I'm wondering if they supplied Saleen and found the fault and have had to develop it out and that's maybe who they're supplying first.

Not seen any S/C Saleens as they're a lot more expensive for what they are and I suspect that most in that bracket are waiting for the Shelby which EVO think is quite an impressive beast.

Ok well mine is now on a ship heading for Liverpool.

The bonnet has now been replaced for an aluminium one rather than glass version as on the '05 models. Brake lines are also changed. The dealer also fitted a cooling upgrade free of charge for some reason too.?

Anyway, the GT would be a great car but as no one can give a definate date and price, I will stick with the S/C Saleen and maybe wait til the speculators have finished with the Shelby.
Saleen have just also released an upgrade pack for $1800 for the S/C to boost the power to nearly 500bhp. The Extreme will now have around 550bhp.

Will have to wait until mine arrives before I see about installing the upgrade.

Very nice.

Anyone heard of these chaps before.....Legend Mustang

I think this is the nicest modified Mustang I've seen so far, looks-wise, anyhow.

Yep,

I have spoken to them regarding the rear window covers. £249 for the pair and their fibreglass and they need sanding to fit plus painting....

Maybe not then.

And block your view to a dangerous degree when pulling from a side road at an angle. It can be touch and go as it is.

Hi, Great to here you are getting a saleen. As noted we have sold three here at www.atlanticsportscars.com. Who have you got doing your SVA work as the companies as the docks etc are doing a really bad job and in time the ecu will be damaged costing £1,000 to replace. We have 48 mustangs out on the u.k road and all SVA work has been done correctly and we have not had any probs. Let me know if I can be of assistance in anyway.

Thanks but the car went through Chelmsford after Charles at 51st State Autos handled the SVA work for me.

There are certainly plenty of people who say they can sort the lights etc out but not that many can do it properly. Took my time and spoke to quite a few people before deciding on the route that I took.

Car is awesome and I am smiling from ear to ear even when I sleep....

i look forward to seeing the pics. You will also find saleen very very helpful if you have a problem. One of our 2005 saleens had a part missing in the gearstick linking. Some early saleens with manuel gearbox went out of factory with a sloppy gear shift. We called them up and they sent out the new part immediatly and we received it two days later. They suprisingly didn't even ask for a chassi number or anything they just got on with the job. Basically if you have any problems with the saleen give then a shout and I'm sure they will sort most things under warranty even though technically there warranty does not travel over with the vehicle

Nice car fella. There is one near identical that I see on my morning commute. The looks and sound brighten the traffic any day

I'm sure Harry Kewell has one, as at the time he said that he thought it was one of the only one's in the UK. His wife Sheree was subjected to a Beetle convertible, hardly a fair deal is it.

Stig,

Thanks it is a great car. Handling is great and the power just comes gushing forward without a let up right to the 6000 redline then the limiter takes over.
My one gripe if I have to have one is that they have left the two cup holders on the centre console but they are useless as you need to have your arm there for the gear change. So its impractical so it shouldnt be there but that is my only gripe.
Owner of a 360 that I shadowed on the A47 yesterday got a good view too...

Oh and the colour is great. has fine metalflake in it. Though I dont need to tell you about how good blue looks do I...LOL.

Ohh and the sound inside when you floor it is pure petrolhead heaven. V* rumble with supercharger whine......

Gotta get me to a meeting now. Or a Tunnel Run...

Nice one Kev.

Have been in touch with James at Atlantic and they may have a suitable car for me

Btw. in terms of a meet. They've got their annual BBQ/open day on the 5th August, so if you fancy a run to Luton, I'll be there with the wife desperately trying to keep my wallet in my pocket

Ultima open day is the day after, so a right old petrolhead weekend for me!!!

Stig,

Can't make the BBQ as its my daughter 6th birthday that day. But a meet would be great.
If you need any info then drop me a pm. If you get a S281 S/C try and get the 75bhp upgrade that Saleen are offering for $1800. Apparently it really wakes the car up. Either that or go for the Extreme version. !!!!

Let me know what price you want to pay if you're serious and I will tell you what I paid.
