Are convertible new Mustangs a bit girlie??
Discussion
Hi all,
Without wishing to offend anyone, I offer up the following question: are convertible 05/06 Mustangs a bit girlie?? I have been looking around for a new Mustang GT, and have started to look at the convertible - but I just can't decide if they look a bit (as one of my firends put it) Thelma and Louise...
Opinions??

At times like these we have to take inspiration from the world of Motion Pictures.
1) As old Bobby De Niro said in 'Ronin', "whenever there is any doubt, there is no doubt".
2) On further investigation it appears the car in Thelma & Louise was a '66 Thunderbird, but the principle still stands.
3) Frank Bullitt's car had a roof.

If you are a guy... a roof everytime. Besides, I think the convertible version of the '05 Mustang doesn't look as good as the coupe. The lines are spoiled by the removal of the roof. Part of the Mustangs heritage is in the roof line. That is lost on the 'vert.
In my eye's the best convertible US car is the Corvette (C5 or C6). Those cars look just as good with a roof or without.

In my view, saloon convertibles don't work. Full stop. The Mustang has a tradition of convertibles but this one doesn't work as well as the original 1964-1968 shape which was a natural. After that the convertibles were pretty much stylistic failures as were many convertible muscle cars whose dramatic coupe roofline was the very reason for existence.
On the other hand, if you have to have 4 seats and must have a convertible, it's a whole testicle less girlie than any Audi, BMW or Saab. I won't mention the Peugeot CC's as they are so girlie, they have a bad mood every month.
