Thinking of buying a mustang are the right hookers worth more than the others & are there any probs if they have been converted???

In general, the right hookers are not worth any more than the left hookers. In my experience, 9 out of 10 Mustang owners wouldn't want a right hooker as the appeal of the Americannness of the car is sitting on the left.

Sorry I can't check this link as it doesn't work off my computer in work (banned site!) but this rhd Mustang recently appeared on ebay with a Buy It Now price of £21k. Given that it cost £38k, I would think someone would bite his hand off if they haven't already especially as it's black with silver stripes and a red interior with all the upgrades.

There have been some doubts about the quality of RHD conversions but an associate of mine said he thought a RHD conversion on a Lightning was pretty poor un til he saw a LHD one. LOL. The one on ebay looked good.

If that ebay one is gone, I have a way of contacting the seller if RHD is what you are after.

That would have been nice except it is an auto! shame good price with all the options wheels,exhaust,rhd, i think it sold anyway!

I haven't tried the Mustang auto but loved my Z28 auto far more than I have loved the manual cars. My Mustang has a bit of a grabby clutch when cold but this may be a corollary of the supercharger. After experience of 3 American manuals (87 Z28, 02 Corvette Z06, 05 Mustang), I think they do autos rather better. The downside of autos is they're harder to hustle as the box always wants to change up but in traffic and on the drag strip, they're sublime.

No, I don't want to sell it. I've only just bought it to replace a Corvette Z06 and a Camaro Z28, the plan being to combine the power of the Vette with the practicality of the Camaro in a single car. I was quoted £27k for a new top line Ford Mustang Premium GT but soon found the UK market was flooded with 2005's. Several hardly used examples appeared for around £23k and then they started appearing on ebay. You can find a car that is practically new for around £20k. Mine is a silver GT Premium 5 speed manual and had 3000 miles on it, all the interior upgrade (silver dash, door inserts, MyColor dash and red leather interior) plus the 500w Shaker stereo and I paid just under £20k. A Vortech supercharger fitted and functioning will cost you £4500 for the chargecooled setup with 462bhp (although there is a cheaper satin finish or non-chargecooled 410bhp version too). Thereafter, the difficulty lies in what further modifications you want - shocks, springs, wheels, tyres, brakes, clutch and so forth. 4 years ago, I modified my Camaro Z28 buying parts from the US with ease.

Nowadays, I regret to say it but the US has become extremely paranoid about credit card scammers and you will find that many just won't accept your card or deal with you or insist on money transfers which cost money. I got round this by compiling a list of all the things I wanted and ordering them and arranging shipping through a company called Moving Parts but they only make sense if you're bringing in bulky or heavy stuff like wheels. I ended up with a list that included wheels, a Spec 2 clutch, brake rotors, strut brace, exhausts and a whole lot of dress-up kit which ran to about £5k in total. IT can be fraught with frustration still as Paypal UK accounts don't allow US shipping addresses and their propensity to drop ship stuff direct from the manufacturers means things can be difficult to keep track of.

Roush UK now provide most of the suspension stuff in the UK and the prices are reasonable although you might want to fit the stuff yourself to reduce costs, it's not difficult but you do have to find the time to do it. They also do a screw-type supercharger which produces about 410bhp and produces more power throughout the range whereas the Vortech is a more efficient centrifugal type. I think the Roushcharger is a little more expensive too.

You can certainly get a very quick Mustang on the road for less than a Saleen or Roush "off-the-peg" car.

The peril of this course is that you can run into insurance red tape for modified cars. It's not that expensive on a limited mileage but it's more expensive than insuring a stock 405bhp Corvette Z06 for example...which is annoying when it spends a lot of it's time in the garage and rarely leaves my sight. I think if 300bhp is adequate for your needs, the insurance will be much cheaper on a lightly modified car than a supercharged one.

I like the power (300bhp is ok)more would be nice in a car that weighs 1750 kg (i think)but i love the look of rosche/salean (& sound)
Rather than keep buying stuff & adding it on (hassle/impatience)i would rather buy 1 done so i might just have to wait a bit until they come down in price (next year)

1750kg!!!! No way, that's a Monaro. The Stang is a relative lightweight at around 1570kg or thereabouts.

That sounds a bit better.I have just been offered a saleen 2005 in black 1000 miles £25k,seems a good price just sorting my funds out now!Yippie!!

I love those Saleens. Good buy.

BTW, on the grabby clutch point, the car has been perfect today so I think it was probably duff fuel and the fresh optimax is finally getting through. It was a pleasure to drive today. I have afeeling these cars don't like to be left standing.

Mine's on a 4k a year policy too. My Corvette was quite happy to stand round and I had no problems at all with it. The Mustang went in the garage for about 4 weeks and when I used it, I noticed the handbrake sort of clunked off, the car has also had this kangarooing when cold and what I thought was a grabby clutch. I can best explain this by saying if you gave it what was normally enough gas, the clutch engagement which is high, tended to drop the revs so the fuelling could be mistaken for a clutch engagement glitch. However, this could just be a bad batch of fuel or it could be the fuel going off so I wouldn't worry about it as the problem has cleared now after a few days daily use.

got it on e bay,been after it a while But i had to sell my Ml merc to fund it,couldnt sell in time so been sorting money out otherways!
The bloke i brought it of is smashing guy & did not mess me about.If you are looking for a mustang that is the place to look as they seem to be big money everywhere else!I am not into that bidding lark but lots of them have a buy it now button!
Have not seen it yet !!! only photos going to pick it up 8 march (my birthday yippie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Said it before. RHD Mustangs 'down under'. Pukka jobs too. Purists would have the wheel on the left,and quite right,so long as you don't want to overtake anything, well not here anyway. Try carsales.com.au and carpoint.com.au for classics, or mustangmotorsport.com.au and mustangaustralia.com.au for the current ones.
