2005 Mustang SVA approval
Discussion
What do you need to do to get a 2005 Mustang through SVA.
I am assuming you need orange rear indicators and rear foglamps for starters.
Is there any company that anybody can recommend to do the preparation work, and ditto for the SVA test near Southampton (ideally near the port).
If I did bring a Mustang in what fees do I have to pay and to whom if I do it myself?

Paperwork depends on what basis you're importing - are you moving residence from US to UK?

No, I'm not returning to the UK to live.
I can obtain American cars at competitive prices and think I can offer a UK buyer much better value than what is on offer currently.

Well, that wouldn't be difficult... Commercial importers seem to work on a standard 50% markup (but do have to bear the costs of holding stock and providing warranties). One hiccup is that you may find you're asked to pay import duty and VAT on the list price, even if you can obtain stock at a discount
Mike,
The US price was £14200! Including shipping, all taxes & SVA mods it came in at a touch under £20k, I don't reckon you can touch it for the price so long as you are ok with lhd. The other thing to consider is warranty, the cars you see advertised by importers have an insurance based warranty put on them as the factory 36 month one is technically void when the car is exported. You could probably purchase one in the UK to cover the major parts, I am chancing it!
Hope this is useful
