My wife and I are renting a Mustang Convertible from Alamo in a couple of weeks for a fly/drive round the Eastern side of the States.

Wives being what they are, she is concerned about what to pack and in particular how many different pairs of shoes etc, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me the size and shape of the luggage bay with the roof stowed - if we need to buy new luggage, it would be a help if we could tell what sizes (2 identical cases) would fit so there would be nothing exposed while parked.
The brochures give a capacity but not internal dimensions.

There is a slim chance they could blind side us with an alternative but they have pretty much guaranteed a Mustang - I assume a 2019 model?

Thanks

Depending how precise you want to me you’re more than welcome to take a look at mine as I see you’re in Surrey and I have a Mustang Convertible!

Alternatively if it helps we ended up with a Camaro when we went this year and managed to fit one large suitcase, 2 large soft bags and 3 trolley dollies plus the usual handbag for my wife ... used all the space available including one back seat (daughter was in the other).

The Camaro boot I don’t think is as good as the Mustang as with the roof down the Camaro boot is tiny (restricted) so we had to leave it up for the journey to and from the airport.

Having hired many camaro, I can confirm the mustang is much bigger. It doesn’t matter roof up or down, same space. I have a gt convertible will post a pic of the boot, trunk!

Thank you both Paul and David. I now know the size of cases that she wants to take, being that it’s for 3 weeks they are a fair size! She wants one for each (mine of course having a large selection of her shoes no doubt) and the size in inches is 31”H, 18”W and 13”Deep.

From either of your fine cars would you be so kind as to take a tape measure to the boot space and see if this is a goer? And as both of you were stuck with the more restrictive Camaro recently, should we be substituted would those case go in the Camaro roof down?

Really appreciate your help guys

Russ

Hi Russ , you do have two rear seats ! Ok not classy but I have toured two suitcases , two trilley trolleys, a teepee and camping gear all over the USA. Camaro, just, mustang no problem.

You would get one in the boot and depending how squashy they are possibly two but your challenge will be the fact the boot is only 10’’ at the back and your 31’’ is almost full depth. If you’re happy to use the rear seats then you’ll be fine.

The Camaro is a no go I would say and with the roof down it’s a shopping bag only affair!
