Considering a Mustang Ecoboost as Company car.

Let me start this by saving I can’t get the 5.0 due to my company car rules however I am not taxed on the car as I will own it which is why the eco boost is interesting.
I keep coming back to these and think I need to get one for a while for one reason only, why not.
It would be a fastback, ecoboost and auto probably in Kona blue with ceramic leather. Are there other option that are necessary? Sports exhaust?
What does the ecoboost sound like? I know it’s not the v8 but is it a fart in a thunderstorm or is it ok?
I am currently in a 640i having come from an M4 and an S5 but love the look of these and need to tick a box I think.
Thoughts from any ecoboost owners?

I looked st one yesterday and it sounds like a fiesta !!
The 2019 model now has a sports exhaust and the clips on you tube show it’s much better with 4 switchable modes but this is only on the 2019 model.
For that money I would rather get another M4 which I thought was an absolute weapon.

The Ecoboost is probably a very good car. The problem is the Mustang name. Many people in the UK view the Mustang as an Amercican icon (quite rightly) and want the V8.
Viewed in isolation as a stylish RWD 2+2 coupe with decent performance, looks, and handling then it certainly has some appeal, particularly if you are happy with have it remapped. I think of Ecoboosts as a modern day 90's jap coupe - something similar to a Nissan 300ZX.
I do think they are over priced for what they are. At around £30k I think they would sell a lot more.

I still find the mustang stands out despite seeing them quite regularly now. Quite distinct compared to the German beige that dominates the roads currently.
I'd go for one, in an ideal world you'd get the V8, but I'm sure the ecoboost will still be great car to drive, especially if primarily for commuting.

We had a 2.3 and 5.0 both with Borla exhausts for extended test drives, the 2.3 was more responsive and up for driving aggressively.
The 5.0 felt totally different, they feel like different cars and in hindsight, we would have been happy with a 2.3. We purchased the 5.0 as it just felt like the thing to do for not much more money, its a 3rd car. If it had been a 2nd car the 2.3 makes sense and I would still enjoy the drive.
Can't understand the love affair with all things German, I like them don't get me wrong but my F10 M5, which I got new was twice as much cash as the 5.0. And isn't twice the car. Make of that what you will.....
Maybe the price difference between the M4 and 2.3 is not that much in the current market?

I only drove the 2.3 down the Florida keys, 130 miles. Up a slight hill you had to bury the pedal and found it hard work, basically you had to “rag it”. I went from a griff 500 to a merc SLK 250 amg, now that was a surprising twin turbo diesel .
Saw them everywhere so went for the gt convertible. In a year i have only seen one GT convertable.
Iam not a speed freak, my other car is a SVX defender convertable !

I would buy brand new but 35k gets a decent M4 these days.The 5.0 felt totally different, they feel like different cars and in hindsight, we would have been happy with a 2.3. So I have a 2.3 EcoB, had it from new. 2018, its a 2015/17 model. Its simply fab.. Yes its not a 5.0 and lacks the amazing noise, but its damn fast, its almost the same car and still puts a smile on my face every time i drive it. I have done 15k in year 1 so far. its my daily driver, totally practical for me, great for 2 seats up front and kids in the back, but its no family car !!!
I get 31 MPG with mixed driving urban and motorway, and I am not "too gentle" The Pirrelli stock tyres are awful, and hate the cold weather, summers great and it handles fine, but its not a BMW or Audi, but its not £40k+ either..
It is a Ford and does have some cheap plastics inside, but I don't make a habit of looking at them when I am driving.. Dash is good, stereo with the Shaker Sync 3 is very good. and seats are very good too.. I am a 6 footer and its super comfy.. But you have to remember its a Ford and its a Cheap American Sports Tourer.. its not a BMW nor a Audi or a Merc, but it is a Mustang and that's exactly it. Its a Mustang.. and everyone cant wait to talk to me when they know I have a Mustang... its a cult. When was the last time a fellow Audi driver waved to you and spoke to you at the petrol station. That's the point.. its so totally different.
If I had the money I would love a V8 but it would cost me £2.5k a year to pay the extra fuel to my EB.. its easy logic ..

I had a SLK 250 AMG before the Mustang V8 convertable,would i go back ? No way. The Mustang is no cheaper inside for me, in fact whenever i park with the roof down, the number of people who comment is almost embarrassing. Just today a guy said it looked more Italian than Yank.
Thankfully the mpg is not an issue as i think i will do 1500 by the end of my first year !

Not as efficient as the EB, but for a 5.0 it's not shabby at all! Certainly not twice.

My supercharged V8 on a trip north following a mate in his Mk2 Focus RS at a constant 75ish mph on the motorway returned an almost identical mpg as him (him 29 me 28mpg)
