a curate's egg - ecoboost S550
Discussion
Well I managed to snag myself an S550 convertible for 2/3s of my holiday and was quite chuffed.
Initial impressions are good comfortable with a reasonable amount of luggage space, good toys (heated/cooled seats, decent radio, various driver modes to play with) and quite a nice feel (in all honesty prefer my camaro, but it's closer than I thought it would be). Then I started it up - dear Lord!! What a hateful, agricultural sounding lump it has
The next surprise was the 10sp auto, fine in theory but in usage it's (IMHO) no better, if not worse, than the 6 speed in my SS Camaro or the 7 in my SLK.
The final shock for me was the fuel economy, having driven from Florida to Washington I expected to get some decent figures but I was flabbergasted to find that my old Camaro returned similar figures (I've not had my 2013 long enough to return any mileage figures).
In fairness this is a rental with 16k on the clock, but I'm definitely underwhelmed and am interested in seeing how the V8 fares in comparison

I have never driven the Eco boost Mustang, but the V8 is very impressive straight out the show room. My brother has just had a full exhaust fitted including headers and it felt like a different car, as the standard system is woefully poor.
As for the Camaro, I really don't like the 2019 face lift, but prior to that I love the overall look and stance, it's very " Muscle car". I also think the LS engines are probably the best V8's around. They are very simple compared to the Ford V8 which will be a bonus when they are out of warranty.
If you own a Camaro, I doubt it it would be worth the cost to change as they are both great cars.
