Morning all,
I'm sure this has been done to death on various forums, but I'd welcome some sensible suggestions on what to do regarding wheels and tyres.
My Mustang is a MY2017 purchased six weeks ago, and has the standard fit Pirelli P-Zeros, which are absolutely terrible (and almost lethal) in this cold/wet weather. Pulling out the driveway this morning into fast moving traffic was interesting and very slidey.
So do I....
1. Ditch the P-Zeros and fit a new set of better summer tyres like Michelin Ps4's (or another tyre)
2. Buy a new set of wheels and fit some good Winter tyres, then put the P-Zeros back on next Spring
Bear in mind I'm going to be running the car as a daily all through the winter...
Open to all suggestions....

I ran my P Zeroes until they were spent (you think they're bad now, try them after 14k miles!). I went for Michelin PSS about a month ago - feels much more assured. There are a couple of places on my morning commute where my Pirellis were very slippy if it was anything other than hot and dry, even at very low speeds - I now have total confidence that the back end will behave itself. I still have the Pirellis on the front, but they're not a problem there.
As for using them again in the summer - I guess it depends on your driving style. If you're like me and only really use the car as a noisy cruiser, then they're fine, but if you like to open the taps from time to time (and you don't mind binning two expensive tyres), then you should just write them off - the Zeroes can lose traction at the most surprising times, even in the summer.

I can recommend vredestein ultrac vorti. Just removed the 6 month old Pirelli’s the last owner fitted and went for the Vred’s.
Had them on my last two 911’s with no complaints.
Much cheaper too at 500 for a full set from Camskill vs over 800 for a set of Michelin’s.
Also full set of Pzeros if any one is interested. 6-7mm tread left.
