2 Years Of Ecoboost Ownership
Discussion
So, I’ve had my Ecoboost for two years as of yesterday, having bought it two weeks old and having done 1,500 miles. It’s now done 39,500 miles and has been pretty well fault-free. It’s a daily drive, not a low mileage weekender and has replaced a daily estate car and a weekend soft-top. And before you ask, yes I did want a V8 but with what was then 25,000 miles a year the 5.0l was not going to work. As it happens I did not want the premium pack wheels but I wanted Guard Green and an auto with parking sensors and GPS, and as luck would have it this car ticked every box.
So what’s it been like? In short almost perfect, the only criticism is the noise and the performance compared to the V8 and the size, which makes narrow streets and small parking spaces a PITA. And of course the crap headroom and access to the back, but as I’ve only been in the back once I don’t care.
Running costs are to not bad (apart from £2217 for insurance but that’s my fault because of 2 previous accidents and speeding points). Over two years it has cost £857 for the 10, 20, 30 and 40,000 services; £1,050 for 6 tyres (4 Pirellis and then 2 Michelins); £600 VED and as near as dammit £8,000 on fuel. About 31p.mile
I’ve also spent another £2,000 in cosmetic changes – a new boot slam panel and badge; a louder exhaust; painted callipers; a wheel refurb after kerbing a couple and I also had a remap following a very positive review about it on PH a year ago.
I usually change my car every 2 or three years but this will be a keeper and there’s a real chance that I’ll take up to 100,000 miles. If I have to change I really don’t know what to replace it with, other than perhaps a more up to date model.

I have been pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the running costs have been with my V8, which I've just ticked over to 10,000 miles. The only gripe for me is it asking for an oil change every 3-3.5k miles - possibly due to the type of driving I'm doing (mostly 8 mile commutes from cold).
Nice write up.... just had my 2 year 20k service. I’ve had 100% reliability. Averaged 24.5 mpg.
20k service cost me £186.
Mods include, Headers, free flow cats, full Borla exhaust cold air intake, remap (452bhp) wheels, brakes, Suspension ARB’s quad tips. And loads of other stuff.

I really like your wheels, but painted calipers would make them look better still20k service cost me £186.
