2016 Mustang GT on track - It's great!
Discussion
It was my first ever proper track day on Friday and I couldn't have asked for a better car. It was at Bedford with Evo and I was massively impressed.
I had set the Peddars coilovers to full hard and it was fantastic, the car cornered hard (peak lateral G of 1.1g! - see vid) and flat as a pancake.
Easily kept up with and overtook a hard driven 997 Carrera S (I was faster in a straight line which was pleasing ) and left Lotus Elise's behind. Car in front of me in the vid is a ///M140i - rapid thing! This was all on battered 13000 mile old front and rear standard PZeros. I did get black flagged for noise earlier with my Roush Axle backs so thats why I had to lift and coast past the two microphone zones.

Had my first track time with the Mustang this weekend.... a little different over here in the US. They don't really have Open tracks, instead you need to go through a series of HPDE (high performance driver education). Starting at level 1 as a novice up to level 4 as a racer, instructor.
A full weekend with 4 track sessions of 25 mins each day, some classroom time and an instructor sitting beside you with a headset to give advice and pointers all weekend.
After the first 2 sessions on Saturday, it was clear I was braking too late and not managing to scrub off the speed in such a heavy car. Progressive braking was the way to go, helping to gradually transfer the weight forward, massively helping with turn in.
I was at Virginia international raceway, which is reputed to be The drivers track of choice on the east coast. Taking on the Full course, a great mixture of speed, fast Esses, hairpins and a carousel, not too dissimilar to Laguna Seca. camber all over the place. It's a long fast ride..!
Stock brakes worked fine, after I stopped stamping on them, no fade.
P Zeros worked great too, but it was 92degF today.. effin hot..
Car has Roush axle back, CAI, Swift springs and stiffened all bushings on the rear end.
Next will be Sway bars, racing Pads and some stickier tyres.
An 8 second improvement over my best time yesterday, I'm told a 2:24 is a great time for an almost stock car and especially a newbie.
My instructor was more than happy with my progress and abilities, so I was allowed to go Solo in the final 2 sessions on Sunday. What a freightening experience, but also an absolute blast.
I drove a total of 215 miles and used 2 full tanks of fuel. 8.2mpg.. ouch. But at only $2.75 per gallon I can take it.

So... update on the car.
Inspection Tonight. All wheels off, brake pad, Tyres check and bushings. All good..
Very surprised with the life left in the stock Pads and pirellis. I change Mobil 1 oil before the weekend and will do again tomorrow. JLT separator can was only 1/3 full and was clean.
The rest of the summer on the tyres and the next track day.
I drove the car pretty hard this weekend, so considering the stock parts, I expected a good amount of wear. Not so.
The car performed very well, the almost stock setup and took the beating and didn't suffer any frailty. If you have any doubt about taking your car on track as bought, don't worry.
I will probably go for sway bars and race pads next track day.. bloody money pit..!

You got those fitted to both sides?I did a 20min session at Silverstone National circuit a couple of weeks ago and managed to get some oil up the passenger side breather which made it's way into the intake and soaked into the filter and then onwards to the underside of the car as I only have a catchcan fitted to the driver's side.
Might be worth having a look...

Everything I've read so far says the passenger side (US car LHD) made the most volume. I only have the Left bank catch can fitted. So passenger side in USA.I did a 20min session at Silverstone National circuit a couple of weeks ago and managed to get some oil up the passenger side breather which made it's way into the intake and soaked into the filter and then onwards to the underside of the car as I only have a catchcan fitted to the driver's side.

Yep, I read the same which is why it was the one I got. 20min track session soon showed the other side is needed too.
Bottom of the PMAS airbox:
Third clean of the filter:
As I said, I only noticed as I did an oil change the following week and was poking around under the car so it might be worth checking your intake.
