I'be got a quick question and would be grateful for help/insight.

Visited my local Trust Ford today to get a quote on a V8 GT Mustang. Was told I needed to get the custom pack if I wanted it "without" the chrome window trim and without chrome wheels, also quoted the Shaker audio as an extra.

I 'd previously understood firstly that the custom pack was the option that "included" the chrome. So if I don't want the chrome then I shouldn't specify the custom pack, secondly that the Shaker is already included with the custom pack. But if that's right then by specifying the custom pack I would be paying for chrome that I don't want as well as paying for the same audio-nav system twice!

Basically I'm confused, is it me or the dealer who's right? Any clarification will be gratefully received!

I think your salesman needs to get some product knowledge. The way to lose the chrome trim and silver wheels is NOT to order the customer pack. You will have to Order the shaker pro, heated/cooled seats and parking sensors separately.
This is how I ordered mine, roll on April.

Well at least the dealer is starting as they'll probably continue. Welcome to the UK Mustang experience. One big joke !

Thanks for clarifying. Guess I might have to look for a better informed dealer. Don't fancy placing an order then spending the next year on tenterhooks waiting to see if the car I wanted is the same as the vehicle the dealer's actually asked the factory to make!

Try downloading the brochure and price list. They are pretty clear on specifications.

There has definitely been more than one person in the UK who has arrived to collect their new Mustang only to find that its not to the spec they ordered ! Whoever the dealer just be very careful to confirm everything as many time as necessary until you are happy that it is all correct.

If you're due delivery in April, when did you place your order?

I ordered it late April, they told me between 10-12 months. Heard bugger all since, Stacey on the help desk confirmed my spec and said build date would be in September, still have heard nothing.
I have ordered it with stripes, which I know potentially could cause further delays.
Still, on the bright side it will be on a 17 reg, also time to save for my axle back and air box.

I think we are probably around the same build slot, mine was ordered 30th April. Have sent mail to Karen and Stacey at Ford on Friday last week but had no reply yet. Sounds ominous so i'm preparing for disappointment

Which dealer is this?

Just so I know to stay the hell away from them.

How ridiculously unknowledgeable about his product is that salesman?! Not knowing the specific BHP, or knowing about certain wiring loom recalls is one thing, but to not know how the only FOUR possible options other than engine and colour that are available can be ordered is shocking.

As MuscleSaloon says, UK Mustang Expereience: one big joke.

Have a look on here for just HOW big: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f...

The MD of Ford UK pops on there occasionally...when he's looking to offload unsold stock, but mention any kind of issue and POOOOOF...nowhere to be seen. rofl

Utterly, utterly shocking and has really put me off buying another Ford again, which considering over 70% of all the cars I've ever owned have been Fords, is saying something. frown

I would think a build date in September would indicate delivery before April, possibly January?

Yeah, if Andy is watching, the Mustang lured me into a Ford Store for the first time in my life but the big V8 buying experience has put me off Ford for life.

My car will only go to independents from now on.

Bit quicker than that. Seems to take 2-3months on average between build and delivery. Depending on ships etc. I'm expecting my early Oct build to pitch up mid-December. My colleague's GT took just over 2 months to arrive in Scotland.

I think delivery times from build depend upon getting a full load for delivery to Europe.
