Spare wheel from the US apparently only $90??
Discussion
Afternoon all,
Inspected my mustang today, collection in 8 days
My dealer mentioned another customer had said they'd Found a ford US website where they could buy a spare wheel and tyre for $90 including shipping?! Anyone come across this, I've not been able to find it with my googling.
For that price it's a steal
Cheers

A link to the $90 example would be useful. My dealer mentioned another customer had said they'd Found a ford US website where they could buy a spare wheel and tyre for $90 including shipping?! Anyone come across this, I've not been able to find it with my googling.
Is it a space saver spare wheel and does it include the jack and the wrench and more importantly does it fit over the brake pads on both the front and the rear for the GT?
Compare with http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_mustang_space... at a cost of £250.00 without the tyre.

Steal being the operative word! I've bought one from the US http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/ford-musta... and will test fit on the front when it arrives. It's advertised as fitting the GT. It may be possible to get a generic steel spare for $90; but I preferred to go for the Ford part. Comes with jack and securing spindle for the boot/trunk.For that price it's a steal

What does this bit mean - Not Available for vehicles originally equipped with summer tires or 20 Inch Wheels. The UK Mustangs have 19" wheels but what difference does it make if the wheel is off the car. The UK Mustangs do have summer tyres but why have they written this restriction?

Something to do with clearing the PP brakes which we get as standard over here. I believe.
I'm expecting the spare I've bought may not clear the front caliper. Will test fit when the car arrives. If not, it will beg the question of whether a rear GT wheel has clearance at the front to enable a 'get you home' swap around'I think this is what we will have to do if we want a spare, which I do. I am sure the rear will fit on the front without fouling. Others are fitting 275s on the front, so should be OK. I have also read that fitting the space saver on an axel with an LSD wont do the diff any good, but other cars I have had with an LSD have had space savers as standard. It sounds better than the tin of goo Ford give us anyway

Some more info through today, supplier was a Us Ebay seller who ships to UK I've been looking but can't find one at that price, will post back if I find
As a US resident, I have searched through EBay, Craigslist and other private sources...I've not been able to find anyone selling remotely near that price, without any shipping costs to UK.
I believe you'll find that the rear wheel has an offset such that it will not fit the front of a Premium GT. I was also really set on getting a spare from the States for my future Pony, but after a lot (& I mean a lot) of internet research it has convinced me that the spare can only replace a rear and the good rear cannot be swapped to the front on our spec GTs. So, instead, I've bought the RAC repair kit that uses goo that can actually be washed out and not ruin your tyre. Sorry I cannot remember the threads where I saw this info (they were US ones), but hopefully it will save somebody wasted £s or hard shoulder upset!
