Which Axle back, where from and who fits it ?
Discussion
To really make this car (an occasion) it needs an exhaust - I have never put an exhaust on a car so I will ask Trust Ford what they "officially" advise, when they say er um ug splutt dunno I will go my own way.
So as per the title anyone any thoughts ? also does the convertible have the same exhaust ?

I cat back exhaust can save you 13kg in weight over the stock exhaust

The routing for the convertible is different from the coupe at the rear subframe due to the added bracing on the convertible.
It depends on the design as to whether this affects the axle back system or not - it does on the Roush quad tip for instance so they do two types.
We've fitted Roush and Borla ones so far. I like the Roush one's - quality and fit is very good as is the sound.
If you want to go for Quad tip you do need the revised rear valance which isn't expensive but takes 3.5 hours to fit.

So its ok to have the Borlas in the UK? with the noise issues at MOT time? It depends on the design as to whether this affects the axle back system or not - it does on the Roush quad tip for instance so they do two types.

Hi Dave. I see you do milek, roush and Borla. In your expert opinion who makes the nicest four tip cat back system in terms of sound and quality, milek or roush? Also do you know of any full systems including decent headers with free flowing cats that will physically fit the rhd cars?It depends on the design as to whether this affects the axle back system or not - it does on the Roush quad tip for instance so they do two types.

I am torn by an exceptionally good offer on a UK supplied Magnaflow Comp Cat back, or a MBRP H Pipe road.
Its being suggested one is better for top end power but a bit raspy and the other more classic american muscle sound.
Anybody have experience of either?
Regards
Ben
You've pretty much summarised it Ben. An H pipe sounds more old-school, whereas an X-Pipe has a more modern 'rasp' to it. There's a fair few comparisons between the two types (not necessarily between the Magnaflow and the MBRP) on YouTube to give a better idea. Its being suggested one is better for top end power but a bit raspy and the other more classic american muscle sound.

I got the impression that the place in Hoole aren't interested in custom jobs at all but maybe things have changed since I went.

Was just a simple silencer replacement for an Audi with straight stainless. Small job and only charged £80 but they did it properly (with clamps, as apposed to welding which is what some other places in the SW did) and had a good chat with the guy doing it. Also I didn't pre-book...I just turned up randomly and they fitted me straight in.Gassing Station | Mustangs | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
