Well, Ford UK and the Reading dealership have surpassed themselves again with my Mustang. This time ON THE DAY OF THE DELIVERY! FFS mad

I was supposed to collect the car this afternoon.

Yesterday evening I was called by the dealer to say that my GT was affected by the wiring loom recall (for heatshield under the bonnet per other posts). And unless that can be fixed, the car would not be released. The parts for the fix are to be “sourced locally”

This morning (!) they have tried and failed to purchase the heatshield tape. I suspect that they tried to get it from halfrauds……

Now they have said that they don’t know when (or where) to get this tape from…… furious

Incidentally, I told the dealer last week to check for this issue – and as they received the car from shipping on THURSDAY, it seems to me that it was entirely possible to check and arrange to purchase the needed parts on FRIDAY.

The continuing communication cock up within Ford UK and the unacceptable approach to their prestige customers astounds me. It ruins the whole experience of purchasing this car.

BE WARNED. CHECK AND CHECK AGAIN THAT YOUR DEALER HAS CONFIRMED AND PREPARED FOR THIS UNDER BONNET WIRING LOOM CORRECTION TO AVOID HAPPENING TO YOU WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME

Perhaps Ford UK would care to deliver a few of the needed spares to their dealers, in anticipation of this type of eventuality – one suspects that it would not be that expensive to arrange.

One pissed off customer…

My car arrived at the dealers on Thursday a week and a bit ago. I told them that I was working the weekend so they had plenty of time to get it ready for Monday when I had a day off.

I was then told that the car would be ready by 5pm on the Monday. WTF! I wanted it in the morning to spend a day driving and getting to know it, not to sit in the dark stuck in the awful traffic around there.

Monday morning and they said it would be ready by lunchtime and that they would call back so I could let them know which bus I would be arriving on so that I could get a lift.

They called back, I was excited as a kid at Christmas, to say that they would have to wait for a part for the loom recall. Why the fek did they leave it to the last minute to tell me. You couldn't make it up!!

At least they still let me collect it on the promise that I'd bring it back when the part arrived. It turned up the Thursday just gone.

I really feel for you mate.

unfortunately for me, they wouldn't let me take the car, while they find the needed parts!

On recalls, customers that have taken delivery are happily driving around until they get the notice to attend the dealer / garage for the work to be done.

I fail to see the difference!

Although I feel for you guys, the first batch of vehicles from manufacturers who do not have extremely tight QC (Mercedes, BMW etc.) tend to have issues; I do however agree that a potential fault that can cause the car to catch fire should not have been overlooked.

Happens to Porsche (GT3) Happens to Ferrari (458) so why worry?

I feel your pain - but i am sure the sales guy is paid on delivery, not on order - so he wants it out of the way too.

I have a 2014 Warrior Mustang sitting with the airbag recall for over a year which i cannot sell. Ford cant get parts ( parts that are delivered go directly to customer cars first).

Just be thankful it isnt a FCA product. I wouldnt wish one of those on my worst enemy!
