I think it was really fair until the the end, when they considered the money spent on a brand new Mustang could also buy a 2nd hand Cayman S or M3 ???? !!!!. Think they completely missed the point.
Much more excited about this than I could be by having an M3 or Porsche .....this is the same excitement I had when I bought my first TVR ....can't wait for November (ish)

Thanks for posting the article Matt. Assuming all the photos are of the EU spec V8 being tested, I spy a strut-brace under the bonnet! Sadly no extra gauges on the dash though.
Not a bad write up, but I guess you either get the Mustang or you don't. I think I pretty much fit the profile in the final paragraph; never really considered an American car, looking for something that wasn't going to be a daily driver. Yes I considered a V8 M3 and a Cayman S, but to be honest neither of them really did it for me and never have. Yes, they're obviously great cars but somehow I've just never really wanted either that badly. The s550, on the other hand, just seemed to push the right buttons for me. I guess I must be a blue collar, NASCAR watching, beer loving, good ol' boy - I just didn't realise it

I only ever drove a press M3 V8 on the track and although fast I didn't like it's interior. It was a pretty bland place to be and I certainly wouldn't blow £30k odd on a secondhand one. I felt like I could be in any E90.
Having sat in a couple of GTs, it's a brilliant place to be and I really have no idea what the journos are on about when they diss the US interior.
Cayman would be nice, having had a Boxster but I need 4 seats even if the Mustang's rear only suits kids.
To top it all, I have wanted an American Muscle V8 since I was a kid but I just don't have the time and a garage for a classic and I need it to be a daily driver. I had a taste of Americana for the past year whilst buying and then selling for a big profit a Mercury Grand Marquis as well as having driven in the States a '72 Mustang V8 'vert and a SN95.
I can't bloody wait

Muscle cars were full-size sedans with big engines and pony cars is a nomenclature based on size - the Mustang itself defining the category.Sorry, Mr Meaden, you can't compare new vs used, any fool can do that. You also have to look at running costs and you can run a Mustang ad infinitum without the need for a long term warranty.
What may also be more important is that Mustangs have kept their value better than BMWs or even Porsches - whether that remains true in the RHD UK versions remains to be seen but cars like the Focus RS prove that a desirable Ford can keep its value longer than a BMW or Porsche.
And I don't even like this Mustang... just saying.
