Just around a car park, but waow.

On every level. It was an eco boost, so no real noise on start up, but excellent inside.

But the fit, finish of the interior and the way it handles is different league.

Will be bloody lovely!

I drove a 2015 Ecoboost last weekend. I did not like it and much prefer my 2013 gt. The new mustang feels like a sportscar and not a muscle car. There was also less room for the driver in comparison. It felt brisk but that was it, not a balls to the wall experience every I get in my 13 does.

What's your thoughts on how the V8 will perform then? I have contacted my Local Ford with the view to put a deposit down on one for delivery in September 15 as that's when my current car will go. I have a V8 at the mo and love the sound track with the modded exhaust on mine.

Never owned anything like a Mustang before, conflicting reports on the net, some say ok some say great. Fits my needs, 4 seats, big boot, coupe, etc etc

Not many V8's coming to UK I understand so thought I could try it for myself and sell should I not like it and not loose too much in the process. Well thats the thought process anyway.

I've driven a 2015 5.0 earlier this week at my local Ford dealer, who's trying to persuade me to chop my 2012 5.0 on one.

In terms of engine performance, it's very similar to my lightly modified Coyote (mine would out-accelerate it), but the new car has much crisper handling and superior brakes.

The manual transmission has a very notchy shift (definitely needs an aftermarket improvement), but benefits from a light clutch and well-spaced ratios.

I'm not a fan of the frontal styling (looks too much like a Taurus) but the rear is great and looks better without the fake gas cap.

Interior is a little better (like the toggle switches) but the rear seats are just as unusable for anyone other than small kids.

I like it. I don't love it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Matt. Have to confess I don't know what a Taurus is. I have been playing on the FORD US configurator and with the Performance Pack added it does look good and will be fairly rare here in the UK I think.

I would agree, it is more sports car than Muscle car.

It has a way way better interior than previous. I guess the only difficulty is them falling between 2 stools...(ahem) in regard to the Muscle car guys versus Audi TT buyers.

I think the v8 gt will be very fast and handle itself very well. I'm not saying the ecoboost is bad but it's a muscle car and that means v8. I do not know whether it was the ecoboost or the irs that took away the muscle from the experience.


I like the s197 interior much more then the 2015. There were some nice materials in the cabin but the door cards are still hard plastic. I think buyers need to be buying it for the driving experience and not how many cup-holders it has.

The stock brake calipers look as big if not bigger than my brembos.

I may be biased but I prefer my 13GT much more than the 2015.

Not sure if it was here or Blatters I shared my opinions, but I've had a couple of days with two of them.

The ecoboost is dog st. It doesn't belong there. It feels dull, underpowered and totally opposed to what the mustang is about - there's no sense of occasion or excitement to it, it's as boring as a midrange BMW 3 series lump. I approached it open minded, as I like the ecoboost motor in the explorer, but the Mustang's version would feel more at home in a Focus.

The front styling, I hate it. It's what put me off ordering one. It's a minger and even worse in the flesh than photos. After getting it so right it's a shame they've made it so horrid. Subjective stuff, I know. The GT350 goes some way to improving it to these eyes but it's still not great. The back is beautiful. None of it is especially photogenic. The interior is a step up in quality, and while it feels a little more snug i like it.

More importantly, I really like how it drives when you put the boot in. I had a chance to give it some welly around some proper driving roads and it handles very, very well. Im convinced there's a weapons grade track car in there waiting to get out - if they do a Boss edition with some sharpened handling as per the Boss, and a bit more power it'll sell like crazy. Expecting to see a lot of them at track days.
The turn in is pretty damn sharp for a mustang, it feels a bit vague at first but if you push beyond that it grips very well. It also drifts very well if you want it to..
The V8 is largely the same as before, it feels more potent though. I bloody love the coyote motor, one of my favorite V8s that isn't wearing a hemi badge.

It's definitely evolved to more sports car than muscle car. I'm not sure whether I like that or not as I loved the last gen for being a bit of both, but it's a fun steer.

I prefer it to the Camaro by some margin, but I don't think I like it as much as the previous gen. The GT350 I really like, tempting as it is I'm holding off for a while, picking up an STI or Evo for the time being, and waiting to see what the new Camaro has to reply with in 2016.

I've registered with Ford for news on this, no idea when we'll be able to buy. I've always said I'd never buy a brand new car but this one could change that. Will have to be the V8 but I'm really tempted to order one.

Having never bought a brand new car any thoughts on approach for best deal? I'll need to part finance it, prob 10k down.

If I proceed it will be the same, 10/15k down and finance the rest, only if their APR is attractive. I will push for a discount but the first RHD Mustang to be sold in the UK will make this hard I think.

I would be selecting the performance pack + V8 so would have thought a list price of 38k "ish". I have spoken to my local dealer and all I need to do at the moment is pop in and give them £1,500 deposit.

Only other car in the running for me at the moment is M235i or an M2 should they be doing good deals on them next year, although I know I will miss the V8 soundtrack.
