67 Coupe rebuild; radiator linked to washer bag?

Hi all,

am currently starting to do up a 67 mustang coupe (289)

for some reason, probably to do with lack of rain in california, the washer bottle now seems to connect to the radiator.
Washer lines have been removed.

I assume this is to top up the radiator, however I would quite like to have the washer working again!

is an additional reservoir for the radiator essential, and surely wouldn't it have to be pressurised in some way for it to work?!?

There is no external tank for the radiator, there should be an overfill pipe which drains directly to the floor. All the items required for the washer are available aftermarket. My 67 arrived from the US with nothing at all, not even the foot pump!
