NPD are a PITA in my experience. If you can't get the right guy (Jason?...JC?) they won't sell to you and phone you back....if you're willing to wait by the phone. If it's his day off you've got no chance. They're not cheap either. I found Mustangs Unlimited better if you want to pay top dollar.
Cheaper in the US would be Rock Auto, and their website enables you to pay shipping and duty in advance. Easier and cheaper. If it's service parts then they're good but they don't stock "everything Mustang" (more of a motor factors). Summit Racing have website enabling you to buy knowing what it will cost - in dollars at least.
In the UK I have always used US Automotive in Bedford. Carry good stocks and most of it gets to you next day. Obviously there's a premium on parts prices over the US, but they know what they're on about.
The more you buy the more it's worth getting involved with the US. If you just want one or two small parts then shop in the UK, as the shipping saving will offset the price premium.
HTH.
Edit to add about manuals - Buy a Haynes Manual, they're on eBay. Ford manuals are around on CD as well, if you can't find a hard copy. Others can be had secondhand (Clymer, Autodata etc.), so just watch eBay etc.
