Hi Guys,

I am hoping someone in here might be able to help me out. I am heading to America on my honeymoon in September for a 3 week road trip on the west coast. (LA-> San Fran-> Vegas -> LA)

We have hired a mustang convertible for the 3 weeks (its with one of the major companies so I am assuming its going to be 3 years old tops, and not one of the uber mental powerful ones).

Couple of questions:
1) How big is the boot? I am assuming the roof when down will take up some of the space. Any ideas / pictures would be helpful for planning how much myself and the social secretary can take..

2) What kind of MPG do you get out of these things? I am assuming high teens, low 20's but would be good to know from someone who owns one.

Thanks in advance smile

Roof up or down does not intrude on the boot (trunk) space. With hood up there is more space for storage due to the space in the 'well' behind the rear seat.

I would assume your rental will be a new 3.7 V6 so MPG will be approx. 2 or 3 better than my 2005 V8 convertible (manual). I get 21mpg round town / 29mpg on a steady run. Those figures are UK MPG (UK gallons are 20% bigger) so I am basing my figures on the computer readout of 17.7 - 24 mpg.

have a great time!

I hired one a couple of years ago for a similar trip.

MPG was about 22MPG (us gallons) which worked out at around £0.13 per mile! It was cheaper than running a Diesel hatch in the UK.
Of course, the price of fuel has probably changed since then, along with the exchange rate.

Boot size was exactly matched to our suit case size (went out and bought new ones specifically to fit in the boot). We found the two cases fitted exactly in the space side by side with almost no additional room. Though the back seats were good for chucking stuff in.

Do a Google search to find the "Trunk" size. I can’t remember what it was now.
