Charged Mustang???
Discussion
Hi all,
I've taken a wander over from the HSV lot. Shhh... Please don't tell them!!!
I'm after something with a little more power and don't really want to spend the cash supercharging the Monaro VXR.
Not sure how I'll get on with a left hooker, but I'm going to go and see this:
I've had a soft spot for the later Mustangs for a good few years. Nearly traded a TVR for an 07 Saleen once upon-a-time.
Not really sure what I should be looking out for, but it seems to have all the right mods even if the 'Nos' scares me a little. I'm quite spontaneous with cars that I have a passion for. How much homework should I be doing with this one???
Cheers

It doesn't look like a Roush as they have hood scoops though that one may have a replacement hood. All Roush's have a unique serial number on one of the strut towers so ask to see that. A few cars get advertised as Roush which have Roush parts on.
Roush come in Stage 1, 2 and 3 - cosmetic, suspension and supercharged. Should be a Roush emblem on the rear panel.
I assume that if it is being touted as a Roush, it will have a Roush supercharger. The non-intercooled version made 415hp IIRC and I think they only made an intercooled version later.
There are many superchargers - centrifugal which deliver power like a turbo, screw type and the top end twin screws.
What is your budget?
You'll probably get more info on www.s197.co.uk or www.mocgb.net. Hard to register on the first at the mment but you will find threads on Roush cars and how to identify them within the past week - here:

Thanks for that. Very helpful. I went and saw the car yesterday afternoon. It's not a Roush but the kit list is impressive and was somebody's project. It's an awesome looking beast.
Jack Roush Rear Exhaust System, KW Variant 3 Coilover System, Roush F&R Roll Bars, Steeda Hi Performance Clutch 2012, Steeda Stage II Supercharger Kit, 5 Speed, Alcon Floating Brake System, Angel Eyes, Carbon Effect Bonnet, Nitrous Oxide, Steeda High Flow 100 Cell Sports Cats, Lightweight Pro Race 1.2 Alloys, Battery Cut Off, Jack Roush Body Kit, K&N Filter, Lightweight Flywheel, Roush Pedal & Gear Shift, Steeda Hi-Lift Cams, With Nitrous 582 Bhp at Rear Wheels, Aluminium Rear Torsion Bars, Quick release Bonnet Catches, Steeda High Flow Manifolds, Jack Roush Quick Shift, Maintained By regal Autosports...
Car is in the classifieds.
I would have left a deposit had they given me a half decent PX to save having to advertise mine which is a pain...
The only concern I have is the Nitros kit that its got fitted??? More research is needed...

sounds really like a great kit (I saw the add on autotrader). However I would be a bit concerned about these 582 whp - how big is the nitros shot? If the internals are still standard that's more than pushing their limits. Also what dyno measured this number? Dynojet is fine as it's reading too high anyway, a dyno dynamics would be wow - just as an idea on a non-nitrous supercharged stroker you need 17psi boost to get about 590 whp and the stock internals cope with about 12psi max.Jack Roush Rear Exhaust System, KW Variant 3 Coilover System, Roush F&R Roll Bars, Steeda Hi Performance Clutch 2012, Steeda Stage II Supercharger Kit, 5 Speed, Alcon Floating Brake System, Angel Eyes, Carbon Effect Bonnet, Nitrous Oxide, Steeda High Flow 100 Cell Sports Cats, Lightweight Pro Race 1.2 Alloys, Battery Cut Off, Jack Roush Body Kit, K&N Filter, Lightweight Flywheel, Roush Pedal & Gear Shift, Steeda Hi-Lift Cams, With Nitrous 582 Bhp at Rear Wheels, Aluminium Rear Torsion Bars, Quick release Bonnet Catches, Steeda High Flow Manifolds, Jack Roush Quick Shift, Maintained By regal Autosports...

I would check the insurance too. Mine is blown and has many mods on it so limited mileage means my limit is 4000 a year (not that I do even that). If it was a daily, they would charge me at least double what I pay now because it's modified.
From that point of view, while it is inferior in handling, a standard GT500 would be less to insure.

I didn't look over the paperwork to see the dyno charts. The garage is in contact with the previous owner which is good and I can give Regal Motorsport a ring who might be able to give some idea on what it's running. To be honest, I'm really just after a nice charged example and this one might be just one step too far as I'm not sure what issues a Nitrous kit can throw up! (Damaged internals being the obvious worry)!!!

BUGGER!!! Hahaha
Don't worry, there's two S/C'd VXR8's on the classifieds that have not gone unnoticed... And anyway, what are you doing over here ay???
Just scanning the 'What's New' and spotted your thread. In fairness, there is more of a mutual appreciation of both cars in the UK, but they spill blood over the two makes in Oz! Yeah, I've always liked Mustangs and saw this one months ago when it was up for £28G!!! I then saw it had dropped in price considerably. As it was on my doorstep, I thought it would be rude not to go and check it out. There seems to be a lot more choice in S/C'd Mustangs than there are in the HSV's. I love my Monaro to bits, but I've got the power bug and unfortunately I can't justify the cash outlay to do all the necessary bits to mine. I considered cutouts as a little mod to spice things up a bit, but that just ain't gonna cut it. After all, it's totally standard apart from the Wortec. If I hide the badges I'm sure no one would notice at the meets
