I was having a talk with someone today about the current run of shelby GT500'

Does anyone think this current model will be as rare/desirable as the 60's models in 40+ years time?

Doubt it though the current model is unquestionably a much better car. Probably won't be any petrol in 40 years time so they'll all be static displays...

No. It's just a production car.

You'd need something more specialist for any hope of that.

So was the 67 car not a production car?

No, the 65-67 Shelby's were produced at Shelby's facility. 68 onwards were at Ford's factory.

All modern GT500s are produced by Ford SVT, not Shelby.

Shelby did make some of his own such as the CS6 which used a V6 but Shelby was increasingly about exploting money and profit, not the integrity of the cars.

Tsk....no wonder 'ol Carroll didn't leave you anything in his will tongue out

Without a time machine or a crystal ball, it's difficult to say. I'm sure they will be collectible, but will they reach the giddy heights of the classics? Dunno. Lets just enjoy 'em now smile
