Quick question chaps. I plan to visit Florida next year and need to hire a car. I fancy a Mustang for a couple of weeks. Now, as I'll be with the wife and kids (7&5) will a Mustang be large enough for us and luggage (say three suitcases)?

Please say yes.

Well Cap'n

I'm going there for 2 weeks in the summer too and I've already ordered mine!

Kids will be 14 and 11 so to make sure there's room I'm restricting baggage to one holdall each!

Where abouts have you rented yours from? Is it certain to be a Mustang?

Absolutely not. Sorry mate.

You can get one full size suitcase in the boot of a Mustang.

Having done this kind of thing loads of times, you will be better off renting a small SUV (Ford Explorer or similar) for the trip and then renting a Mustang just for a "Daddies Day" biggrin

That's odd, because I can get two in mine. It's the rear seats that are the problem. In order to give any meaningful rear legroom, driver has to cope with face being pressed against the windshield.
(Not literally, but hopefully you get the point).

Good luck,

Hope you are all on the smaller size and don't intend driving very far.

They really aren't very roomy.
Bear in mind that swerni is about 8'10" tall hehe

Personally speaking, if it's a coupe (not a vert), there should be bags of room for 4 with luggage. 3 cases won't go in the boot though - 2 at most, the other one on rear seat between the kids.

Mustang vs. SUV - it's a no brainer.

I have 2 boys - 7 and 2 and we all fit in just fine smile

Hmmm, maybe my suitcase is bigger then.

I have a hard shell Samsonite and if that's in then boot, I can't get another big case in there.

Seeing as we now have conflicting advice, any chance of the OP visiting a dealer over here with a Muatang and having a look?

Thanks for that. Is that a 'vert? Is the coupe boot any bigger?

Yes, it's a vert.

You lose about 2-3 inches in space above the case where the parcel shelf is to allow the roof to fold.

That's pretty much the largest case you can check onto a plane. You can get that and a large holdall in the boot and not a lot more.

Right, I'm feeling a little vindicated now.

Where do you get the 2nd one in then?

tongue out

Although, it's not me who has the problem as that case is plenty big enough to last me and the wife two weeks worth of luggage.

OK thanks for the help. I think looking at that picture that there won't be enough room for our cases. I'll have to find an interesting car for plan B before I go for the minivan plan C.

I am indeed - I got cold feet at the eleventh hour and decided I couldn't part with it smile

Have a great Christmas mate.

I stand by my comment about you being 8'10" though wink
