My laddo has asked me to post this on behalf of one of his buddies who is waiting for a 60's Yank from the 'States.

Well known shipping company have been used to collect a 60's yank from California.
Car is due to arrive late last week in the UK
It's then understood that 2 other 60's yanks have been put in the container (one possibly a Mustang, the other maybe a Caddy)
Container is opened in the UK and it's completely empty which then raised alarm bells such as whether they were nicked etc.
It then later turns out the container sent was the wrong one and that the three cars are supposedly still sat in the US in a holding area.

Please PM me if you know anyone who may be the owner of one of the above cars. We're trying to trace the owners of the other 2 cars to discuss further next steps.

Christ, you must be raging. Why do you want to trace the owners of the other two cars though? Your contract is with the shipping company. Surely it is a simple case of them putting the car(s) on the next available ship and possibly giving you some sort of compensation? Whatever happens I hope you get it sorted out quickly.

You can't fit 3 x 1960's cars (especially if one is a Cadillac) in a 40' Seacan.
Also, wouldn't the can be about 5 tons too light when they lifted it onto the ship?

I've had 5 cars in a can

I'm due to collect 2 stangs on Monday at the docks when the container will be opened but there should be an etype and a 356 in there too with any luck so probably not the same container

The main reason for posting (and yes all the points that have been raised have been considered) is that the agents are far from being very helpful - they won't tell us who other parties affected are - we are hoping that we can find them by posting on a few forums.

Was your car in Jersey at the Port? Most of the cars at Port Newark were under 6-7 feet of water and will be complete write-offs. I've heard estimates that 12,000+ cars will be totaled. Just an FYI if your car has any modern electronics.
