G'day all, some of you may know I'm looking for a stang at the moment, found one I like but its missing the inner wheel arch? please see below the Q & A and add any comments please as I know nothing...thanks in advance
Also it has cloth seats....rare? I suspect it is an option (leather) ?

(Q) G'day Glen,
Whilst your waiting can I ask for some info please...
The biggest sticky point thus far is why it’s missing the inner wheel arch cover...
I spoke with my mechanic & he has suggested it may have had a new wing for some reason (maybe an accident) - I would like to run a full vehicle check therefore please can I have the following:-
Full name & address including postcode of previous owner
Chassis number
Date of reg:
Just out of interested can you contact the guy you brought it off to ask why its missing?
Many thanks, Warren

(A)The water guard it appears that the front bumper not original and I know you have to have the guard out to replace headlights as all the brackets are behind. wing looks original looking at bolts. Regards Glenn.

Why walk away? It might be something as simple as a missing/broken plastic component - a tub-liner is hardly a make or break part is it.
You don't specify what model you are talking about here - most Mustang headlamp assys are accessed via or through the hood/front valance - are you sure the seller isn't talking about side marker/repeater?
Asking him to contact previous owner is a bit much in my view - do you want the car based on what you see or not?

To be clear he (the seller) means the inner wing wheel arch...
Stang in question below:-

Also another member from another site posted me this info...useful...
'The inner guard is not the last word in quality. You have to remove it or bend it back to replace indicators or headlamps and it may even be a corollary of the original SVA test as wires need to be accessed (depending on the age). It could simply have fallen off at some point if it wasn't put back on properly as the fasteners are usually re-used.

It's impossible to be prescriptive without inspecting the car and taking a magnet to see if the original wing has any filler in it. The main issue is getting anothr as I imagine it would be a real fag and quite expensive to import something that is so floppy and awkward to package.

You also need to know whether the absence of the guard has allowed water and mud into crevices you don't want it in. If you go on Facebook and request a Friend of Hertford Tyres, you'll see Dave's Mustang without any wings on it to help you in that respect.'

Replacement of the headlamp unit requires removal of the fender-liner, not the bumper cover. If both have been dicked around with, it would be more appropriate to suspect accident repair. What's the hood alignment like?
