Hi guys

A friend of mine has recently imported a 2006 Mustang 4.6 Supercharged V8. This was supposedly pushing 450/500 Bhp before being imported into the UK. After delivery we test drove the car and felt it was running a lot less power. He has owned two mustangs in the past so is pretty sure about the power loss. Could anyone point me in the direction of a mustang specialist within the Midlands area?

http://www.modurstang.co.uk/index.php/where-are-we... Speak to Mike, no one better on blown Mustangs. They are in Oxon, so not too far.

The claimed power from the US is usually quite far away from reality as they use Dynojet - hence all these great numbers on US forums. As a rule of thumb a rwhp dynojet reading would equal crank reading for a dyno dynamics so I wouldn´t count on 500 hp. Just to have an idea my car read 440 rwhp on dyno dynamics and 510 rwhp on a dynojet (Sallen Stage IV, 3.2 pulley, long tube headers, stage 3 cams and spot on tune, and this is more or less the max you will squeeze out of the stock bottom end)

you can have many reasons for power loss - so far I lost power once when the chargecooler pump was gone and once when one of the spark plugs was gone.

I would also call Mike at modurstang or Trevor at Surrey Mustang to see what they have to say. Btw. what gas is the US tune for? If you need a new SCT tune definitely get one from JDM - really great email tunes and they got mine spot on from the first time when I upped the boost and installed the long tube headers.

Cheers for the help guys

Not really sure about the current tune but I do know we're looking for a new tune after the cars been through a full health check. Would Mike or Trevor be able to give the car a once over for him? if not could you guys recommend a good place for a full check up?

Both of them can do a full check up, also both can hook it up on the SCT to read error codes etc if any. Furthermore ask them if they can hook up the Ford Livelink - then you can drive around and monitor quite a few parameters on the laptop to see if everything is ok (timing, separate injector loads, sparks and many more).
If everything seems to be healthy then you go for a dyno session to see the AFR and what hp are you pushing and think of options to get more (you know some is good, more is better but on a stock bottom end the limit is about 450-475 at the wheels on dyno dynamics, after that the rods won´t cope with it)

out of curiosity, what sc do you have? saleen, edelbrock, whipple, kb, paxton?

for tune, JDM are really good, quite a few people on the mustang forum went with them

Mike will give it a full health check and will be nearer. Never seen a bad review of his work.

Steeda is a well-known and respected Mustang tuner in the US though they tend to use proprietary parts from other manufacturers as well as their own bits and pieces so it will be a proprietary blower. They make their own "Screaming Q" models.

Hiya Mike.
My friend did give you a call earlier on in the week with the issue with his vortec supercharger. The front bumper has steeda written on it which is all I knew about the car. Sorry for any confusion
