Please can you help. My husbands birthday is fast approaching and as a surprise want to buy him a mustang(it's been his dream since a boy). Funds are limited to about £5 - 6k but have no idea which models are good/bad and where to look (I'm in Cambridge). Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
A desperate housewife

Better to just give him the funds towards it IMO. Otherwise you might buy him something horrible like a 6cyl or a dodgy 80's model instead of his dream 460 big block mach 1. My 2p

NEVER buy a man a car he hasn't had input into - he will not be able to hide his pain if it's not what he envisaged. £6k doesn't buy you much of a Mustang either. The classics worth having start around £10k and the good-looking modern ones wink start at £14k

You'd be looking at the 80s/90s Fox body/SN95 Mustang. There is a purple 90's "Lawman" Mustang on ebay at the moment in purple which is still low bidding with a V8 but it has silly vertical doors on it though they can probably be remedied. It has good points though as the "Lawman" was a pukka drag racer though don't be fooled by the 400hp claim - that is highly unlikely to be true.

However, I'm afraid it's at times like this when you have to accept that you can't surprise your husband as it may be in a bad way. Personally, if my Mrs gave me £6k, most of the fun would be in finding and buying the car myself...
