Mustang - day to day MPG?
Discussion
The petrol tank is pretty small. 60 litres so an LPG tank of similar size where the wheel would go would be fine.
No interest at the moment but as I'm planning on my V8 on being a long termer like my BMW currently owned for 17 years from new, I might have to consider it in the future.

If you are doing that many miles I'd look at a V8 and lpg conversion. Best of all worlds.
I've been running my Jeeps on LPg for the last 12 years...and it's bloody great.....but as a side note, the new F150 Ford pickup truck, fitted with the Coyote, can be ordered direct from the factory with the option of an LPG ready engine, ie.hardened valves and valve guides..http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/
Regarding power loss, my Hemi Jeep is supposed to be 330 ish BHP, my gas vapouriser is rated at 450 bhp.....I honestly don't feel any difference between gas and petrol.....even when towing over 2000kg of Clydsdale and horse trailer....

60l tank in a V8 mustang! How do they make such a big car with a small tank and small boot! It's not like Ford don't know a thing or two about packaging a car either.
Sorry for bumping an old thread.
Long time lurker, I'm 95% sure I'm going to bite the bullet and go for a V8 mustang on the current 0% apr deals.
Currently running a 3 litre M135i, so my question is do you guys think I'd be close to my current mpg? This is 24 average and varies between 20-31 on the commute,11 motorway miles with approx 6-7 miles stop start traffic.
I'd love to know what I'd be getting myself in for!

Any advice for running the engine in? I'm picking up 130 miles away, would the constant speed and revs cause any long term damage?
I've yet to see two people have exactly the same opinion on this! I think it would be wise to vary your speed a bit if you can and avoid revving the tits off the engine for the first thousand miles or so, and let it warm up a bit before setting off. As long as you're not crazy with it, the engine is a pretty robust lump as far as I've heard. Mine has certainly been well-behaved - only problem with my car so far (11k miles) has been a failed a/c compressor.Funny and sad to see this thread pop up, with me saying that my Mustang Gt was going to be a long termer like my still owned BMW.
Sadly work and home circumstances took a dive unexpectedly and the Mustang had to go. Still I only lost £4,000 over 2 years and 14,000 miles of ownership.
Mine showed 21mpg for the whole of that mileage but I did see 40mpg once by sticking to 60/70mph on a long motorway drive.

I've only averaged 33mpg in my 1.4 litre Abarth 595 over the first 2500 miles (spend a lot of time commuting in traffic) so 23 or so mpg in a five litre V8 sounds pretty impressive.
I think if I had been using the Mustang in traffic, it certainly wouldn't have averaged 21mpg lolAnother reason why it went before I had to move back to London.
I used to commute across Town in a 4.6 V8 Mercury Grand Marquis. That averaged 12mpg in traffic and I'm sure my Mustang would have been the same.
