Astra Mk4/G 1600 Timing Belt - Please help

Hi all,

Right simple question is, can anyone tell me where the cranshaft lines up with the block? We can not find a timing mark on the block to line up with...




It should go around about the 5 o'clock position. How does this go with TDC on number 1?

(there is a part of the casting on the block around the 5 o'clock position but is not a definitive timing mark)

Any help most appreciated!

There should be a small mark on the plastic casing behind the lower pully like you say around the 5 o'clock mark.

Thanks for the reply. The plastic casing is all but gone, anyway I took an educated guess based on the marks that were left and it's all working perfectly.
