ok so i recently brought a 2000 ASTRA G 2ltr 16v x20xev with full service history upto 12k ago and every mot scince new and having 129k on the clocks but its in realy good condition and has been well looked after for £600.
but it has developed a rattly top end from cold but tht soon goes as it warms up.

so i decided to turbo it.
ive picked up a x20xev turbo engine and box, ecu and keys and rads.
its a 56k engine but rebuilt 5k ago Using the stronger crank arm from the X20XEV and higher lift inlet cam. Also has a larger 62mm cable throttle body with Z20LET pistons and rods.

my questions are,
will this bolt straight into my car being x20xev and would this engine bolt striaght onto my gearbox?? (hopefuly yes so i dont have to mess with the gear linkages).

will i have to change any of the wiring looms?

this engine comes with no exhaust componants so what will i need? can i use any of my exsisting exhaust system?

thats all i can think of for now, any help and advice would be greatly appreciated
eddie

All should bolt up to your gearbox but if it's an F18 I wouldn't expect it to last long. If it's an F23 you've got then that will be a lot better.

ha ha. i just went out and had a look and stamped on top of the box it says F23 and reverse is bottom right.

ive heard people have had to wire in a new dash loom? is this the case and the engine comes with wireing loom so im thinking this will conect to the loom i already have in place for the x20?

thanks again

morning all been awhile scince i was on last.

been a bit of a change to me car..

finally got round to fitting the x20xev turbo lump.
been driving it for nearly a week and it hasnt been without problems.
popping boost pipes, melting oil returns, vacuum hose problems and extremly rich running.

but with lots of reading and tweaking i finally got the bugger running nice.
drives with 6-7psi boost.
heres a couple of pics of the engine change

old lump coming out

new one going in (before dropping in a new engine check the bloody clutch spline matches the gearbox or you'll waste an hour scratching your head and taking engine back out again!!)

all in but was tryin to get it to fuel and idle on the z20let injectors

a quick vid of me overly excited showing the car running

sorry about the commentry i was v.excited lol

oil cooler, intercooler, air con rad all squeezed in there somewhere.

i will post more pics of it finished as soon as its washed and polished.

Nice work. But I have to ask, are you sure its a turbo xev?

Unless its a home brew vx never made the xev into a turbo. The z20let engine looks almost identical, and the block from a xev can be used to home brew a turbo as a friend built one to run about 350bhp on omex and with a massive turbo smile

My missus runs a Z20let engine in her Vectra B, and my vec runs a saab turbo. From what we've found a LSD in the gearbox helps put the power down. We both run F23's and they seem to take the power quite well!

yes its definatly a x20xev. block had to be drilled for oil return from turbo.
head is also x20xev with x20xev inlet manifold, cable throttle body.
im also running the f23. i also have traction control which helps.
was just trying to work out the diffrances between c20let and z20let ecu's?

would anyone know what would happen if i tried to run the x20xev on bosch motronic 2.7? i know thts for the c20let but didnt want to mess with fly by wire throttle. and the 2.7 would give boost control? or are the c20 and x20 tht differant?
many thanks

I'm pretty certain you couldnt run the xev from the c20 ecu. would be easier to go standalone and map it properly.

Have you tried posting on MIG?
