Astra 1.4 07/57 reg

Hi all, I'm looking at Astras at the moment, possibly more towards the 1.4 due to budgets etc...
What do I look for when looking at them before making the deal?
Is it any more economical over the 1.6 or shall I bite the bullet?

The 1.4 is pants in a Corsa, it's really bad in the Astra. The 1.6 is the bare minimum you should look at, the 1.8VVT is better (140hp+ and similar MPG to the 1.6).

How good is the 1.3 DTI diesel Astra, been reading the facts & figures, it's more powerful then the 1.4 petrol.
But I only do 10k miles pa

10k a year, you're mad not just going for a 1.6 petrol. Diesel is pointless.

No worries, this week I brought an Astra 1.6 club, goes very well indeed, 06-reg just under 50k on the clock, should suit me for the next few years.
