So I was sat on the motorway and I changed down the box for an overtake. All of a sudden I get an "Engine power reduced" message and it feels like the turbo has gone missing. I continue my drive and also see "service vehicle soon"
Later in the journey I turn off the engine, then turn it back on and everything is back to normal. There where absolutely no error lights or messages. I've done another 500 miles since and everything seems to be OK.

Question is, do I still need to take it in to be looked at. (Of course the garage says yes, but they would wouldn't they!) Servicing costs are not an issue, its the inconvinience of it all making me hesitant.

So what do you reckon?

Its a MK 6 Vauxhall Astra hatchback 1.7 cdti ecoflex SE.

TIA

Best thing to do is to see what the code was. But there going to charge.

I would be happy just leaving it though and see if it comes back.

If theres someone local to you that can do it for free then thats a bonus.

On a side note, when you get it serviced they 'should' check the ecu as part of the service cost. Very rarely done though but mention it and dont let them charge you extra
