Anyone got any info on removal of the above item with a view to binning it or cleaning or renewing? Binning being the preferred option.

Also could anyone ID which O2 sensor is 1 and which 2? On the subject of O2 sensors. Has anyone substitued resistors for the sensor? I know that this has been done on some bikes, not sure if it's been tried on cars.

Removing the EGR Valve will trigger the light on the dash board. They can be cleaned however the fault normally returns. Best buy new one.

O2 sensor one is the one before the cat, sensor two is after the cat.

Resistors would possibly work to fool the ECU but you could potentially cause damage to the cat potentially failing the MOT.

Email me if you need prices.

Get rid of it completely, there's a blanking plate and "cheater" which makes the ECU think it's there so you don't get any warning lights. Been fitted to hundreds of cars, you can buy the bits you need from here.

Cheers for that, but it says on the site Z22 only and mines a Z18. Would go for it if it didn't matter.

EGR removal and cleaning is relatively easy - plenty of how-to guides on the Astra forums (Astra Owners Network for example)

A blanking plate will give you a light & code as already stated, but is usually cured with the addition of a 9-10mm hole to allow 'some' air through to keep the sensors happy. Regular cleaning is usually sufficient though from what I've read.
