Opened the sunroof the other day to the tilt position, and then found it would only close halfway down. The full range of movement is just from fully tilted to halfway closed. It won't slide back to open fully. The motor is trying but it's almost as if the cables are locked. Took the roof panel off, but that didn't help. The manual control behind the courtesy light switch is just an Allen key which doesn't wind the roof, just seems to tighten the motor into position. Anyone got any ideas how to proceed?

Cheers,

AJAY.

As you say the allen key wont wind the cables as they are locked.
The reason for this is likely to be the drive gear that is made of cheese is jammed.
The only way i can see is to remove the motor and manually close the roof, then either inspect the motor drive or replace the whole unit, which would be my choice.

Thanks Callyman,

I didn't realise that the first allen key just removes the gear wheel and spindle, revealing another allen key which winds the roof mechanism!!
So, the roof now closes and tilts, but won't slide back more than a couple of inches. You can feel a solid resistance on the allen key so I reckon the cable(s)have stretched and jumped a tooth and are not engaging where the roof stops opening. Not sure whether or not to carry on trying to fix? At least I can tilt it and close it, which is how I use it mostly. Is it possible to renew the cables, or do you have to buy the whole shebang? I've seen a complete roof on Ebay for £65 but the cables might be just as worn as mine are.
Any further advice much appreciated!

Ajay.

Not sure really as ive never had a roof apart.
As far as new cables and parts give Autovaux a ring on 01924 376003
Tell them a clubcalibra.net member sent you

If the parts are available anywhere in europe they will know and be able to source them
e.g. i needed a new joint boot for the front transfer box end of the prop on my turbo, vaux said no longer available and autovaux got me one as it's still listed on their system

Well I found a 'Sunroof repair kit' from Vauxhall and thought that would do the job. Then I heard the price........£400 plus VAT !!!

Spoke to Autovox and they had one in stock and quoted £250 plus VAT, still too much to pay. So, I'll put up with the roof not sliding back, and just tilting which is ok anyway.

Thanks for the posts Callyman.
