2008 Astra Strange Horn Beep

My old folks astra as today started doing something unusual..

every time you start the engine... the horn beeps!


there are no warning lights, and no visible reason for this that i can establish...


does anyone have any idea what this could be?

08 plate 5dr astra 1.6 petrol

on the older mk4 Astra's the alarm siren would 'chirp' when its battery backup was faulty/flat.

I'm guessing but it might be something along the same lines?

every thing about the use and operation of the car is as it was when it was first delivered...

i dont even think it has an alarm... or im certain ive never heard it!

but i feel the beeping is telling us smething, i just dont know what


like quickly flashing indicators tell you a bulb is blown etc

CIM fault. Prepare the Vaseline, it's back to the dealer time, £300 part.

Common fault on the Mk5 - another reason why they suck ass compared to the Mk4.

I think there's just been a recall announced for this, check with Vauxhall.

yep ALL mk5 astras are being recalled and done for free, regardless off age or mileage as it is a known fault, some just need a new loom and some need loom and cim unit, but its free so get it in and done.
