Hi. We've got a VXR Vectra Estate, remapped. Extremely rapid.

How are you finding the VXR?
Seriously thinking of getting one.
What they like to live with daily - I know fuel economy isn't gonna be great but what are they like real world?

Fuel economy is good for what it is IMHO, depends on your driving style too though obviously, motorway runs I can average 35 mpgs, 'normal' driving I get a consistent 28 mpgs which equates to around 330 miles per tank.

Servicing intervals are long and not expensive, in standard form they are quite lively, get them mapped (about £400.00) and they turn into a quick car, mine is running 300+ bhp and 400+ ib/ft and it shifts, is comfortable, a good size and as there aren't many on the road they get some admiring looks.

The specs in these cars vary hugely, full leather, half leather, adaptive lights or your usual xenons, climate control or air con, sat nav or DAB radio with 6 disc changer, etc etc etc...

Try one smile

I couldn't get on with the lack of steering feel and unrefined ride, so I sold mine now.

Great car on a smooth road and in a straight line mind you, and very good value for money.

Edit: As the chap above says, VERY cheap servicing too.

Don't have one now, but did have one when they first came out. A really enjoyable car, I did 10,000 miles in 8 months in mine.

Is it one of the first generation or 2nd with the power increase?

Sorry to hear you've sold up - what have you moved on to? I've got a mapped estate, and can see what you mean about the feedback - it's no mx5 (gives me the excuse to have one of them too!)

One question though - which wheels did yours have on it? Mine's on the 19s and actually feels less planted than another (standard car) I have access to which is on 18's. I think the 18s just allow a bit more give, and seemed to give more feedback - it also seemed to fight a bit less when you give it some welly, but that might also be the extra torque.

I'm having a look for a reasonably priced set of 18s for mine to see if they really do improve matters (especially as the 19s are prone to cracking/bending), but it certainly does feel to make a big difference to the drive.

I had the 19s

I haven't purchased a replacement yet as I have a daily driver and this was just a weekend/family car.

I might get another two seater or something similar size to this again, not sure yet.
