Hey guys need a bit of help, moving into my new house in 2 weeks, safe parking on a driveway! test drove a vx220 turbo in april loved it perfect in every way! Now is the time I wont to buy however im very worried about osmosis happening in the winter as it will be stored outside in the cold. However I wont need it for work so the cover could stay on and so in ice the car wouldnt move! Am I being stupid would a car cover stop it happening!

Thanks Guys and by the way the other car I will be getting is a modified mk1 range rover so my reckoning a perfect set of cars for 365 days a year!

Andy
ps if it is a risk i would probably spend 8k on a n/a as that is less to risk than 12-14k on a turbo!

It might be best to post this on vx220.org as there will be more people on there who might know. I can't help unfortunately as my car is garaged in the winter.

If you're going to spend 12-14k dont buy a turbo buy one with a supercharger conversion. 250 to 260 bhp with no flat spots. There are a couple for sale on vx220.org at the moment.

osmosis is a load of old tosh - it can still happen in a garage, it may just take longer!

A lot of people have kept theirs outside for years with no ill effects, certainly not a reason to steer clear of buying.

A lot to be said for supercharged cars, but like anything modified, they take a bit more maintenance imo (same as modifeid turbo cars), and insurance!.

At the VX220 national this year every car that broke down was a modified N/A (mainly supercharged ones). This will always be a problem with highly modified cars.

My turbo has 250bhp with no flat spots, it just runs out of steam above 6K. 270lb/ft torque though smile

Thanks just worried about it as its a problem out of the owners control and not a diy fix!
