Zafira Problem

Hi all, my daughter has a problem with her car, it just suddenly cuts out,she pulls over realeases petrol cap puts it back on and its fine until it does it again. Its a Zafira V Reg

Sounds like fuel starvation caused by a blocked breather from the tank. I don't know the layout on a Zafira, but my first port of call would be to check the breather pipes from the filler` neck for blockages or kinks. I believe some vehicles have a vented cap as well, so if the Zafira does it could be the cap itself that is at fault. Fuel cannot be drawn out of the tank unless air can get in.

I had that happen once..... some pillock had used a radiator cap for the fuel cap (old car, many years ago), and of course the rad cap wouldn't let any air in!

Quick fix is to drill a small (2mm) hole in the cap.
