My company car was serviced on Thursday and needed a new front wheel bearing. This was done and the car was returned to me. On the way home i have town and motorway driving, through town car felt fine. Get the on the motorway and the steering wheel starting shaking at around 70mph, wheel balancing is my initial though. I then put the brakes on and the shaking is MUCH worse, it is only higher speeds. What has the garage done to balls up the car? I was not impressive with the service after phoning me at 4:45pm on Thursday night to say i would not be getting the car back until the friday, i needed to make other arrangement to get home from work, now this it is not good.

So if anyone can offer some help as to what is happening and why then i would appreciate it.

Have checked all wheel nuts are tight already.

Thanks
D

Update:
Just took the front wheels off, the new bearing seems tight to me, well it is tighter than the old one of the other side.
Wire brushed all contact point of hub and wheel, this is where i noticed the retaining bolt for the disc was very loose and just sort of hanging there. I tighten that up, put wheels on and went for a spin.
Shaking at speed has now gone when not braking, however when braking it still shakes aggressively.
By the way the wheel bolts were silly tight, all on one side and only two on the other.
Cheers

Sounds as though the disc hasn't been put back correctly. Take it straight back and get them to sort it out.

Spoke to the lease company and they sent the AA out to have a look. He suggested getting the wheels balanced in the first instance. Down to Kwik Fit (yes i know) and they have balanced all 4 wheel, apparently all were out. They also said that the brakes were running out or something, there was a 26% difference on the near side. What does this mean, he also suggested they might be warped.

It is going back to the garage on Friday but would like to explain and understand what Kwik Fit were going on about.
