Morning all, my brother in law picked up an 06 plate astra 1.9cdti yesterday afternoon, it's 150 bhp model with 102k on the clock and had a new (not reconditioned) engine fitted 30k ago cos of a broken cambelt, anyway, he paid his cash and took the car away and was very pleased with it until about 4 hours after he bought it he was giving it some beans down a duel carriage way when he heard what he described as a whooshing noise, then the engine died and all the electrics stopped working, he managed to coast it off the road. On trying to restart the engine there were no lights on the dash and a clicking noise on turning the key, typical of having a flat battery, so I took a new battery to where he had broken down, fitted it and no change, still just a clicking noise when turning the key? I know this sounds like starter motor trouble but what would cause the engine to just die at high speed? The guy he bought the car from has recovered it and is going to fix it but am just puzzled by what it could be? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any suggestions
