Just bought a Vectra 2.0 16 valve SRi 1999 (X20XEV)with a snapped cam belt. Repaired all the valves and rebuilt the engine.

Now the car wont start. The engine turns over fine petrol getting to the chambers, sparks from the plugs etc. I have done a diagnostics check and it is flashing 1502 which is an immobaliser fault. Does this mean i need to buy a replacment ecu with ignition surround and chip for the key or is there anything else people can suggest?

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers Brian

open the key up and make sure the chip is still in there, it might just need reprograming

Ive tried both keys and neither work. Ive bought an ECU, transponder and 2 chips for the car all off the same car. £35 off ebay. I should get them and try them on saturday so i will update later.

Ive had a similar problem with a 1.8 ls vectra but that had been standing for 8 months before i fixed it so just thought it would be a one off. This ones belt only snapped 3 weeks ago. Must be luck of the draw i would imagine.

Just tried the new ecu for the vectra and it still wont start frown any one got any ideas to try next?

Or could this ECU be faulty. The listing on ebay says the car is being striped because of a gearbox fault.
