Timing belt change on an Astra gsi

Maybe a bit of a silly question but i've actually never had to change a timing belt on any of my car's till now. They advise that a timing belt on an Astra GSI should be changed every 40,000 miles. I'm due to change it in about 3,000 miles. Am i best to change it as soon as or just wait??

every 40K or 4 years.

What's to gain by waiting 3000miles? Nothing really.

What's to lose? Lots of ££££'s if the belt / rollers / tensioner / water pump gives up in that 3000 miles.
