Chipping a Vectra 3.0d V6 2007 184bhp
Discussion
Hi
This is a little out of my realm, but I'm asking for a friend.
He's got the above Vectra and is considering a Chip. Has anyone done this? He has a few questions:
Cheers
Rob

He's got the above Vectra and is considering a Chip. Has anyone done this? He has a few questions:
- the car is automatic – any implications
- where do I plug it in
- mpg implications
- servicing implications
- can I take it out again and will everything go back to normal
Cheers

Honest answer, don't entertain it.
The later fuel pumps on the 184ps, facelifted Vectra and Signum are not quite as hardy as those fitted to the earlier engines. There seem to be a few too many that are going wrong, just on standard settings, let alone ones running tuning boxes. The replacement pump price is into four figures.
Dealers are being taught to look out for signs of 'abuse' particularly around the plugs in the loom they go into, also they can interrogate the cars ECU to check for abnormally high common rail pressures. All the boxes do really, is fool the ECU into thinking the rail pressure is low, so dumps more fuel into the system at even higher pressure - obviously this will strain the pump too. As a result, you may find your dealer 'reluctant' to honour any warranty on associated failed parts!
Sorry if it puts a downer on your ideas, The 1.9's remap beautifully, the older 3.0 does very well too.

I have a 3.0 CDTI V6 engine with a remapped engine rather than chipped and it flies once into 3rd gear and keeps on going. Mine was remapped by the dealer before I purchased it so came with all the standard warranties and network Q guarantee, check your position first with regards to warranty if you do it post purchase.
