Hi,

My sister, who is only 17 yrs old, has brought herself a 1.0 12v R reg Gls corsa. For her first car its absoloutly fantastic, light nippy etc etc just for her to bump and bruise as she learns. The only problem we have discovered is, that the enginemanagement light comes on and she loses power for anything up to a minute. This can be quite annoying and dangerous esp when driving along. It can do it a lot or harldy ever at all. Any ideas on what this could be?

The car is not using water, oil or petrol excessivly and everything is as it should be. Could it be a fuel filter? Injector problem???

Any help would be most grateful

It's worth getting an ODBII reader to plug into the cars ECU then you can see what the error code is.

Sounds like it could be the coil pack if it's intermittent

When you say she loses power, could you be more specific? Just electrical/engine drops to idle/cuts out?

Hi thanks for the replies guys,

well she drops in power and struggles to continue. So have to come off the power and slow down until the light goes off. It doesnt cut out or anything.

Will try and book her into the garage this week for a reading though

What happens with the revs? do you have to increase throttle to stop it from stalling?

Hi,

Well the revs drop slightly and I feel her lose power, but the car does start to slow. Even increasing the throttle I still dont gain any more speed or revs.

Hi guys,

took the car to the garage today and confirmed that it was the coil pack. They quoted around the £100 mark, but was wondering if anyone knew where I could pick up a second hand one or it cheaper than £45.

Kind regards

Mike
