Have a facelift Omega (MY00).

The coolant level came on the other week, although the level looked ok, I put some anti-freeze/coolant in (not much as the level was ok)).

Anyway, the light went out and all ok since.

However, since the really cold weather/snow, the light is now back on but the coolant level is OK.

I'm guessing it's a sensor issue (so not too worried unless the warning remains once the weather warms up again) or something else? Any ideas? As I say, the actual coolant level is OK.

No responses! Oh well smile

Anyway, I fixed it so putting the solution I found here in case anyone else comes across the same thing.

The float within the coolant expansion tank was stuck down. pushing down on this a few times loosened it up and hey presto the coolant warning light is no more. I guess the cold weather froze it shut initially but then wouldn't free up.

Anyway, hope this helps anyone else with the same issue where the light comes on yet the level is OK.

Just seen this and was going to suggest to check the float sensor!

Back to playing up again now though frown

Level is ok, no coolant loss.

Think it prob needs a new sensor or coolant tank - quite cheap as I recall (£30 or so).

There isnt any oily/mayo gunk in the header tank is there? False low level warning can be because the sensors all gunged up, from Oil cooler failure.

No gunk, everything else is running fine.

Managed to find an Omega forum, it looks like it needs a new expansion tank. A common issue, and the sensor is built into the tank so can't replace that alone. Only £33 for the part and easy to fit.

Nice one, I only asked as had to put a cooler in my mums Omega the other day, first sign of problem was the level sensor in the header tank playing up. Bit of a pain the sensors not separate but £30 isnt too bad really.
