Fault codes on Corsa 1.8sri

Hi, I've got a ECU fault showing on the dash of my 2003 Corsa 1.8sri. It has an annoying hesitation on light throttle which makes it a pain in town. Also the fuel consumption has gone through the roof.
Bar going to the local Vauxhall stealer is there any way to identify the problem?

A local tuner has already suggested it could be the lambda sensor, but I'd like to make certain.

Live in the Aberdeen area, so local would be good.
