vectra b petrol cap

hey there just wondering if anyone out there knows how to fix the following
i have a 99 v reg vectra sri when i use the central locking the pin behind the petrol cap remains in place thus jamming the petrol cap cover shut i managed to prize it gently open with a screw driver once but i dont want to do this all the time incase of damaging the bodywork.any suggestions would be most helpful.thanks.

It's usually the solenoid unit that's at fault (the thing that the locking pin sticks out of).

You can just remove it from inside the boot as a temporary measure, but the flap won't then lock of course.
